Hey guys, right now I have a strat that I love and a tele that I love.

The thing I like about the 70s Pawn Shop strat is the one bridge humbucker and a neck single, with a hardtail bridge! I want to order one with a hard case. Question though, what do you all think of the quality compared to an American strat?

Also, can the pickguard be replaced or painted? It is sort of ugly! I prefer solid color pickguards! :)

I envision this with a Duncan Antiquity JB in the bridge with a Duncan Vintage Stack in the neck with a solid black or solid white pickguard. :)

Thanks!

I have heard nothing but good reports for both the MIJ and MIM Pawn Shops so far as quality goes. I too kinda like that 70s Pawn Shop Strat... but I balk at the price of the new Pawn Shops. $799. Right now that is MORE expensive than an American Special Strat and that just isn't right!

I think you might be stuck with your pickguard unless you are handy with routing one out yourself. It is a Tele style guard but might have a slightly different contour due to the Strat body and the switch slot and control knob slots would be reversed from a traditional Tele pickguard.

I do like the way the Pawn Shop Strat's pickguard does not cover the right-hand horn on the body so that both horns are clean... very cool look! I also think that the Enforcer hb is the best Fender bucker out there.

If only there was a good noiseless replacement pickup choice for the neck pickup.

I think if the PG was a different color, it would be sweet!
