Nothing like a dozen pictures of packing to make one want to scroll thru your thread.

Man, I thought you'd enjoy it for the effect. Doesn't take much effort to push your finger down 1 milimeter, and move your wrist 10, if you don't wanna see them.

I'll take them out, but holy crap, I'm coming to notice the people on this forum... it's like talking to a bunch of teenage girls who just love to complain about anything.

Have a bad one,

Nick

Just look at all the loose threads on that gig bag. Fender QC has really taken a nosedive here.

Just like an old-fashioned strip-tease! :)

Nice Strat, congrats. 8)

Unfortunately I think there's actually something wrong with this guitar.

I plugged it in and tried it out at various volumes....

There is a sound that sounds like a Geiger Counter is coming through my amp -- like bad wiring. As I switch between pickups you can hear it more or less, and it seems to be not as bad when I do positions 2 or 4. Listen to the sound here:

https://soundcloud.com/steelydanick/str ... er-counter

And also, as I switch my pickup selector so its CLOSER to my neck, I get more treble-ish sounds. Is it backwards between tele's and strats? On my tele I have 3 pickups and as I move the switch closer to the neck, the sound becomes less bright and has less tone.

Almost as though the insides are wired backwards, and poorly wired.

What a let down... any advice/support here? Should I ship it back or call Fender?

Nick

Also note I've tried 2 different patch cords, tried both patchcords on this guitar and on my telecaster, tried putting it through my pedal, and I only get the sound on my new strat.

And the sound is definitely backwards in terms up pickups from my tele.

Does this indicate a wiring issue internally?

Sounds like a bad ground and backward wired switch.

Gah, really? So what's the best course of action? Send it back or get it checked out in a local guitar shop? I can deal with the backwards switch, but the clicking sound annoys the hell outta me.

Take it to your closest service center:

Haha I just got off the phone with fender, he listed off all of the 'closest' service centers to me. Being canadian, they're all 2-3 hour drives from where I'm currently living.

Therefore we decided my best bet was a direct exchange from Long and McQuade (the dealer) or to just take it to a local unauthorized shop and see if its simple enough to fix there.

But backwards pickups? And a clicking sound?

Not what I was expecting from an MIA fender. Really disappointed here, this thing is gonna cost me another 200 bucks if I want to get it properly serviced or 50 if I want to take it somewhere else and void my warranty.

No wonder they're having a "sale"

Cheers
Nick

Best choice. This is a warranty issue and one that I am sure can be easily taken care of. Like they say, "stuff" happens.

It's ridiculous though because there are no L&M's within 3 hours of where I live, and I would have to pay for the shipping...

Is this crap legal? Shipping broken guitars out to people then telling them to pay for shipping back if you want an exchange...

Man I can't believe this

The warranty that came with the guitar will answer those questions.

Contact the dealer. See what they have to say.

Talk about karma for my prank post :P

Yeah I contacted L&M, the guy said "let me take down your info and see what I can do for you" which we all know will end with nothing.
