Hello,
could you have a look at this guitar..
Its being sold as a Fender American Vintage 57.
Do you think its ok?
The body seems refinished from a different color.
The neck look right but says J Velasco. What does that mean?
What about the pickups?

The case is ok and it also has the authenticity card.
Thank you in advance.

Here is another photo from the body..
The barcode is either removed or destroyed...

Looks to be real, but does look like it was refinned Black from Sea Foam Green. The name J. Velasco is probably the QC guy or maybe the shaper for the neck. Would like to see the headstock, and the backside of the pickguard before I would say for sure.

Thanks for the answer.
I am posting 3 more photos that may help.
I have already posted one from the back of the pickguard..Isn't that good?

The neck must be ok..
I also send an email to fender with the s/n and they told me that the guitar was made in 2008.
The date at the neck and on the back of the pickguard complies with it.
Any other way to check the pickups? The pots are CTS.

The main concern is about the body.
It has no date at the neck pocket..Is that possible for a 2008 body?

Also its weird that it is refinished as the s/n refers to a black guitar.

It's not unusual for a guitar to be refinished at the factory.

+1

A buddy had a strat plus with a ding in the horn and it was layered like an oyster shell in there - it looked like it had been painted red, then blue, then red again! Helluva thick paint job.

I am aware of factory refinishing, but my main concern is that there is no date stamp on the neck pocket of the body..
I have never seen a recent reissue body without date.
Have you seen one?

If the body is not original do you have any idea what could it be?

Considering that the serial number checks out with the specs from Fender, and indicates a black body, and the body looks to be authentic, I wouldn't worry too much about it. One thing about Fender guitars is that inconsistency is normal, sometimes you have dates, even matching dates and all is as it should be, and sometimes not.
