Some of you guys from the SOCAL area may have heard that an employee of Pete's Music in Temecula was brutally murdered during a robbery of the store. I know this is not a Strat topic, but I am hoping that getting the word out might help identify and catch the animal that did this. A Gibson Studio Les Paul with a red wine finish and serial number 01042519 was taken. Here is a link to the article.

NOT SO!.Santana's #1 guitar was stolen on the West Coast and migrated across country to an attempted sale in a local music store on Rockaway Parkway in South Bklyn. Royal Music was a store with which I had done some business when I lived in that borough. I was aware of the theft due to a small notice in Guitar Player magazine and was dumbfounded to learn that, due to the fact that the guitar community had been on the alert, the sales staff at Royal was able to stall the perp long enough to summon the police, because they knew what they had in front of them. It would not be out of the question to alert the guitar community, in part, about this crime. That guitar might just turn up in like fashion, and a killer[s] brought to justice.

If you're a junkie with a jones, looking for a way to raise cash for your next hit, life is cheap. Sad.

Yeah this is the right place to alert us to be on the lookout.
That is very sad and I hope your info helps someone identify it.
We are not to caught up in our own hobbies to care and want to maybe help.
I surely would like to see one of our brothers killers brought to justice.
Make sure and pass it on on the Gibson Forums too.

Why just this one? There are hundreds of people killed every day, you all have a lot of work to do, let's get busy with those alerts.

Frankly I couldn't care less about seeing this kind of crap on a guitar forum, it's quite rude.

Did you read the story? Hard to believe you did.

Let it ride. He's entitled to his opinion and to express it.

I agree. I didn't click on this thread for a couple of days because it didn't seem like something I wanted to deal with. After reading the story, I had a change of heart.

Why this one? Because I knew the guy. Because people I know were very close to this man. I agree, there are hundreds if not thousands of tragic stories every day. I don't always have the opportunity to try and help, at least in some small way.

Had the guy killed someone for a car and I was a member of a car forum, I would have posted there.

You have a right to your opinion, but frankly calling this story crap and saying that you care less about seeing this on a guitar forum, causes many to form other opinions. Maybe you would prefer to discuss the pros and cons of MIM vs MIA instead.

Suffice it to say that the use of the words 'crap' and 'rude' certainly does indicate a level of insensitivity to the issue. If he is not, and simply felt that, in his opinion, this Forum was not an appropriate one for it, it goes without saying that he could chosen his words differently, given the tragic nature of the incident.
