Picked up a 96 Strat that is an odd shade of yellow. It has a tortoise shell pickguard. Could it have been white and just aged that much or did they offer a yellow color?
It is a USA made Strat.
Thanks
Mark

Like they say a picture is worth a thousand words...post one and we'll be able to tell you. I would have to check but they offered white that year, but what if they offered yellow too? Then you wouldn't really have an answer. Post a pic!

I hope this works! The guitar in the picture that I hope I just posted is just a little more yellow in person.

Step 1 upload your pictures to a free hosting site like Photobucket.

Step 2 copy the link below the picture from Photobucket.

Step 3 paste into your post then up above you will see the IMG.

Step 4 highlight your link from the photobook you pasted then click the IMG code and then your picture will appear in your post once you hit submit.

It might be color 41, Vintage White.
Hard to say without seeing it in person.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

It is more yellow in person. The color is the same all over. One thing for sure. The red pickguard has got to go!

+1

Or conversely, Olympic White.

Does the finish color look the same beneath the pickguard?

I plan to pull it tonight. I have a feeling it is going to be the same color as the rest of the body.

Pulled the rear plate and it is exactly the same color as the rest of the guitar. So do you think this would be the Vintage White?

Only four whites offered that year... Olympic, Vintage, Frost, and Artic...And NO yellow colors. I would go with Vintage White since it an American Standard Strat. Kind of odd though it's that yellowed without a differance in color under the back plate . Check under the pickguard, maybe the original owner didn't use the back plate so no difference in the color.

Thanks for the pic, but a couple from different angles and including the whole guitar might help some. I also checked the Fender Frontlines from 96 and they don't list the colors for each model so no help there.

About as close as we can get without seeing it in person.

Checked under the pickguard and the color is all the same. Here are a few more pics that show the color a little better. I guess the bottom line is it doesn't realy matter what color it was as it is what it is! I think a black pickguard will make it look awesome!

I'm banking on Olympic white. Vintage white was avail on the Strat Plus
