Hi all.
My main gigging guitar is a 62 Hot Rod strat and has 57/62s as standard. For me, these are by far my favourite pick up that Fender produce. My only reservation with them is that the high e and b strings are a tad weak in output. Which is more noticeable when in positions 2 and 4. I can live with it in the remaining positions.

I ve tried various other pick ups in the guitar, some from Fender and some from other camps, including some high end stuff. Currently got a Bareknuckle 63 veneer set installed.
But none of these can touch the tone of the 57/62s for me.

On to my question,
As you may or may not know. The 57/62s that come in the Hot Rod strats are RW/RP.
But the aftermarket 57/62s are not RW/RP on the middle pick up. So no hum cancelling obviously. I can live with a bit of hum, and when I'm not playing I just step on my tuner to cut the noise till we go into another tune.

Would a non RW/RP middle pick up help with the slightly weak g and e out put?
Does RW/RP stifle output at all?

I tried the normal stuff like adjusting pup height. And I play 11s half a step down.

Cheers all in advance.

Those 57/62's are some of my favorite single coil pickups too.

I don't think a non-RWRP middle pickup would increase your G and E output any.

You tried raising just the treble side of the pickups?

You could try to reduce the bass control on your amp(s).

Indeed it does -- to varying degrees, which may or may not be perceptible to the human ear.

The reason is, both the highs and lows are somewhat attenuated when the outputs of opposite-phased pickups are combined as with switch modes 2 and 4. This attenuation is manifested by a slight overall reduction in the resultant output signal.
