I just bought a new American standard strat, obviously it has the 2 post bridge assy. Until now I've always locked down my bridges, which have all been the 6 screw. But out of the box all I did was tune it and it was setup absolutely perfectly. With the bridge floating I can also pull back slightly without damage? I keep watching the bridge and it seems like a lot of pressure on those 2 posts.
I do realize its not a Floyd rose. But I would guess if I can pin the bridge to the guitar by tightening the screws then I should be able to pull back on the bar a bit. And it has been staying in tune pretty well also.
Heres a couple of pics

Just roll with it for a while and see how it goes. Doing nothing might be how you end up dealing with it! :D

Not sure, what actually your question is, I'll try anyway:

Yes, you can pull back on the whammy bar with a floating trem. That's what it is built for, pulling back and diving down. Of course, a trem system without locking mechanism like a Floyd Rose will not stay in tune when you overdo it (Van Halen whammy bar abuse is not recommendable).
Even if you do, the trem might go out of tune but the two posts will be able to handle it, no worries.

As for the blocking:
Dunno how you blocked your 6 screw trems before but it is NOT done by tightening the 6 screws, it's done by tightening the two screws in the rear cavity, which hold the springs or by adding a wooden block..
(just mentioning, in case you didn't know).

Now, if you try to block your 2 point trem by tightening the posts ---- ouch!!! There go your knife edges! DO NOT TURN THE POSTS WHILE STRINGS ARE IN TUNE!! In fact, don't turn them at all while in contact with the trem!!

If you want to block your two point trem, do it as mentioned above: by tightening the spring screws. (you might as well use a wooden block. That will keep the trem's position). If you lock it down with the screws in the back, you might have to do a new setup because string action will be lowered a tiny bit by the trem tilting backwards.

Hope that helps?

I got the impression you were considering future mods, no?

No, I was wondering if the 2 posts holding in my bridge are going to handle me pulling back on the vibrato a bit, raising the pitch?

And yes SF I know not to tighten the bridge screws, I tightened the truss rod, right?

I keed, I keed.
I'm not new to strats, just 2 point bridges. I'm keeping this one floating, thanks for the info.
