I'm finishing a custom built Strat and was considering replacing the latex spacers on the pickup screws with springs from StewMac. I've noticed that the pups don't always sit level and I'm hoping this will help solve the problem without causing others (unwanted noise or rattle, etc). Any comments? Thanks!

I prefer the tubing over the springs. It is easier to work with and holds the pickups in place just fine.

Additional note: If you are having issues with the way the pups are sitting, use a longer length of the tubing.

Additional additional note: I notice that sometimes the ends of the tubing are not cut square, which might be throwing your pups out of true. Just cut a fraction off with a sharp knife.

I have Strats with springs and Strats with tubing under the pickups. Can't say it makes an ounce of difference, in my experience.

Thanks for the input. I actually considered the fact that often the latex spacers aren't cut even. That could definitely be the problem. It just sucks when you're trying to adjust the pickup height and they're listing to port or starboard. Not only does it look cheesy it throws off your measurements. Thanks Again! Craig C.

I'm getting listing forward and aft, not port to starboard. I'll have to get under there on my next restring and check it out. Good info here... thanks!

Sometimes, it can be too long, so shortening it can be the solution.
