Yeah Fender uses 250k in all HSS models and its actually better. I for years didnt even Listen to Fender or Gibson Humbuckers. As soon as I bought a new guitar I would order Dimarzios and 500k pots and just as soon as I unpacked a guitar would change this.

Now I have found out that at band volume or loud through a half stack 100 watt tube amp a 250k sounds silkier smoother and no oversaturation and microphonics. A 500k oversaturates the pickup

At bedroom or practice amp volume a 500k sounds better allowing more low volume saturation.

When using a higher ohm pickup you should really stick to a 250k even Dimarzio has currently retracted thier stance on 500k volume pots they now say 250k volume 500k tone. Gibsons run a 300k volume and a 500k tone.

Seymour Duncan and Dimarzio both make a single sized series of actual humbuckers that are not stacked that sound like actual humbuckers. Duncans have hot rails and JB jrs and Dimarzio has a Chopper and Super Distortion S to name a few.
