I found this review for the Highway One on Guitar Center, and it absolutely appauled me:

"Wonderful guitar!
What more can I say?? I simply LOVE this guitar for only $750!! I can't believe we are blessed with an American made guitar for this price. Here are some of the details: The finish looks just like a sticker whcih scratches and dents real easily and the pickups are nice and weak, the way I like them. The neck cuts my fingers when I move up or down the fretboard, which is awesome. I needed to use that box of finger bandages but I couldn't cut myself enough... this solves that problem. I love the gig bag (a $20 value, which comes FREE!!) instead of a nice sturdy case... puts those highly sought after dings in it everytime I drive to a gig and gives it that really worn, dented look that I love and throws it out of tune... also great for resale. Another fabulous feature is that for $750, the guitar comes fully unintonated and poorly set up... which I prefer because I really wanted to spend an additional $50 but I didn't know how to. Simply fabulous! Looks and feels like it was made in a 4th grade shop class... what more could you ask for for a mere $750?? Pocket change really. How does Fender do it? They must be going broke. An American made guitar for only nearly a grand!?! With only $750 to spare, I thought I was going to have to buy one of those Kathy Lee editions made with Balsa wood. I'm hoping next time they don't finish it at all (Custom Shop requests... they get them all the time) and give you a cardboard box to carry it around in... but they'll have to raise the price to $850."

I hate this so much. My Highway One is on its way, and I think that it is absolutely one of the best guitars I have ever played.

The whole thing looks like sarcasm and insulting GC to me. I think it is kinda funny.

BTW: I love my Highway 1.

Oh, I love it, too, that's what made me so mad over this. But I guess I'm just getting my feathers ruffled over nothing. :?

First, I'm surprised they even published it because it is clear when you post a review on their website it will be refereed and they will reject anything which does not comply with their standards which are posted.

That aside, it is not unusual to find a new instrument on the wall which never should have made it past QC. I am in the habit of checking the fret ends of any guitar I am thinking of auditioning. If I feel "fret sprouting" I give it a pass.

Probably that same (shall we say "PERSON" that was trolling about the grounds here the last couple of weeks. Just call MF and tell them they've been victimized.
Besides at MF you can send it back; and another "besides" MF fully describes what is being offered so if indeed this person bought it they lost whining rights over the gig bag.
My recent purchase of my Strat 12 had no case included so I bought one. They don't offer cases to keep the price of the axe down; yes belive it or not people buy lots of guitars without cases.
My 60th Anni. Tele came with that fancey silver case; well GC center broke out the cost ($250.00) of the case on my duplicate reciept; most any Fender square case can be had for a street price of 150.00 so I feel somewhat screwed over but I plunked the money down without really thinking about believing the case was part of the deal; the axe retailed for over 2K; I got it for 1495.00 and they ate the tax. So maybe not such a BAD deal but we all like to get a great deal. So i have no-one to blame but myself. However I have a funny taste in my mouth visa vis GC and will be more careful if there is a next time.

Good bit of sarcasim - no harm meant as far as I can tell. I've read where some peops that own both the American and he HWY1, in some cases prefer their HWY1s!

I just bought a brand spankin' new American Standard Strat :) I then played it twice and promptly delivered it to a local shop to have it set up and the frets dressed so it will play like it was designed to.

I have no complaints though - anything I have ever purchased has required a bit of "fine tuning" to obtain the best possible performance. Maybe look at it this way - how many of you out there in Fenderland operate at 100% efficiency 100% of the time?

Just a thought...
