Thanks. I usually change my sig pics out about once a week or so because they're usually humorous and the funny wears off but since this pic is actually mine, taken in my music room with my gear and my camera, I may keep it there for a while. It dawned on me to take the pic when I was moving gear around one day reorganizing the room. I moved the amp over to underneath the poster and the idea struck. I've had a number of compliments about this pic.

Yeah just the trippy light effect is really cool and the tele strat combo is a winner

All of the lamps and light fixtures in my music room have coloured bulbs for that live stage kinda ambience when I have folks over for a jam. I've also toyed with the idea of getting a mirror ball or a laser of some kind and maybe a smoke machine as well. That kind of stuff has come down so much in price these last couple years. I'm actually also considering getting some LED PAR 72 lights as well for summer gigs cuz LEDs throw almost no heat onto the stage and they draw very little current as well.

What year is that strat? Noticed double string trees on it like my 89

I'm not completely sure. It's a Korean made Koa Top Strat which apparently is pretty much the same animal as a Lite Ash Strat but I wouldn't know as I've never had anything to do with a Lite Ash Strat and I never really cared enough about this guitar until recently to attempt dating it. I bought it for the sole purpose of using it as a test bed for trying different things without hacking up my American guitars. I chose this particular one because I liked the wood grain but I never really thought of it as anything other than a cheaper guitar to experiment on. This Strat has seen a number of mods and the way it sits right now, pretty much the only things that are still stock are the body, the neck and the bridge assembly. Tuning machines were replaced with Schaller lockers. The pickguard was swapped out for a whiter one. The stock guard was slightly darker, kind of a bluer/creamier looking colour than this one. The pots, pups, switch and even the input jack are all aftermarket and significantly upgraded compared to stock. The neck has some lovely birds eye figure on it. Now that it's been hotrodded quite a bit I like it quite a lot. Maybe I should attempt dating it. Serial number obscured for security reasons.

I bought the guitar in 2003 from L&M (a big chain store here in Canada). The guitar was only on the wall for half a day when I bought it but it's possible it was at a different store for a long time. L&M will often relocate stock items to another store if it hangs around too long. My best guess would be that it's maybe a 2001 - 2003 but I dunno for sure.

You know I have found that some of the Korean stuff if you change out the stuff you mentioned, is actually quit good. Korean Epiphones Ibanez and Fender stuff seem to be real nice they are just givin subpar hardware and electronics.

I've just always built my own, that way I get what I want the first time. I'm a big fan of cloth push back wiring and people tend to change extra for that kind of wire for some reason.

I've found the same to be true in my experience as well. This Korean Strat is very well built. A lot of attention was paid to fit and finish and wood selection. I'd rank it above a typical MIM. Maybe even on par with a CIJ. People boo me and sometimes get a little pissy when I say the following but I remain absolutely immovable in my opinion that my Epiphone Les Paul is built better than any Gibson Les Paul I've ever owned. The pickups and pots were shyte but I swapped them out almost immediately and even with that extra expense I still figure I saved almost $2K compared to paying for a flame top with the Gibson name and I ended up with a better guitar in the end.

Such is what consumer feedback is all about, and whatever works for you as well.

Try Acme Guitar Works, they seem to offer more than just a "kit", theirs seem engineered to be more like something you would make for yourself, with better parts.

+1... The folks at Acme are pleasant to deal with and deliver the goods!
