Anyone have any suggestions on where to buy a loaded pickguard? Someplace that has a choice of pups and pg would be nice. StewMac just has a no name option.

Frankly, I don't think you're going to find many places and for those who do have some, their offerings will be limited.

From what I've seen, a loaded pickguard of all premium components costs pretty much the same as if one had a tech assemble it to one's personal tastes on demand.

Naturally, "a la carte" is where the biggest profit lies vs. having to lower the cost 'across the board' to where the complete assembly would (hopefully) be a more attractive selling point. Here too though, consider the dollar value of the committed inventory such an undertaking would require where there is no guarantee of selling any of it. Of course, all the new components would no longer be new. Rather, they'd simply be used but never privately owned. All these factors make such an undertaking not only cost prohibitive but a mighty big financial gamble as well. This is, unless of course, in cases such as the one you've cited above, imported generic parts are used where the profit margin per finished unit is huge. And/or, a given establishment advertises some combinations and tells you to inquire about others not listed. They then claim to have exactly what you're looking for (either way) where upon having received your money, they then feverishly proceed to slap it all together for you.

As always, this is merely IMO where YMMV.

Hmmm, that all makes sense. I just figured there were places that would build to order and save me the trouble of taking the parts to a local guy. Thanks.

Ebay generally offers a diverse selection of loaded pickguards -- some OEM Fender, others optioned to suit.

There certainly are a lot offered on Ebay. Thanks, that should give me something to ponder.

Try Acme Guitar Works, they seem to offer more than just a "kit", theirs seem engineered to be more like something you would make for yourself, with better parts.

Seymour Duncan and Dimarzio have some nice stuff. You can order them from Guitar Center or Musicians Friend.

I just bought one off a nice bloke on ebay, Fender VN with 3 ply pickguard etc

http://www.ebay.com/itm/170735463591?ss ... 1497.l2649

Pics of my MIM modded Strat (2012) are at

Easy to solder and install.... whatever you buy make sure you mess with the pick up height as it took me a few hours to get each set to the tone I wanted

I always wanted the EMG DG20. not that it would make me sound like David Gilmour, but the 3 singles with the boost kinda works for me.
