Can anybody shed some light on this guitar. On the back of the neck, just where it joins the body, it reads: MADE IN JAPAN. SERIAL NUMBER Q038930.
I've checked the S/N and find that MIJ Q with 6 digits means 1993-1994. On the headstock it reads: Fender STRATOCASTER, with Synchronized Tremolo. And then a small decal near the top of the headstock reads: Floyd Rose Squier Series.
Floyd Rose II is stamped into the metal at the bridge. The guitar is a 3-tone sunburst with H-S-S pups, only 2 knobs - 1 volume, 1 tone, the usual 5-way selector switch. The neck is a C-shape with a Rosewood fretboard, and 21 medium-jumbo frets.
I paid approx' $USD366 for this guitar, it's 2nd hand and appears to be in very good condition, thought there is some wear on frets 1-5 where the B & E strings have worn small indents. The body is lovely with hardly any scratches or dings.
I've had a look on the Net and found out this guitar is a MIJ Fender "Squier Series" Stratocaster w/Floyd Rose, and is a lower cost version of the MIJ Hot Rod Reissue series.

So my questions are: Is this guitar a Squier or a Fender? If it's a Fender why is it called a "Squier Series"? Is this model guitar considered a good model? Was it a good buy for the price I paid? I'd appreciate any other info at all as I'm curious.

Squier is owned and operated by Fender. So it is a Squier, but is made under the Fender banner.

That price sounds a tad bit high to me, but then I'm no expert on Squier prices.

I would say to surf around and look for what something similar is selling for and use that as your guide... not to terribly scientific...
