You did well. Looks sweet. I would drop that money on that guitar anytime. Is it a Roadhouse or Tex-Mex Special? Even if it isn't it still looks good. If you are not sure...it looks like it could be one. Does it sound good? Ones that look like that where I shop usually run for $500 or more.

If I'm not mistaken I think the tortoise pickguard suggest this is a Roadhouse Strat, no?

If so, the street prices for these seem to be about $550 new, so $300+ sounds like remarkable value, assuming there's nothing wrong with it. Does the vendor claim it is actually new, or had a careful previous owner?

Looks like a great deal to me. What amp did you get?

I know they put them on the Deluxe Players Strat too.

If it sounds good and you're happy then you got a good deal. Congrats and welcome to the forum.

Congratulations. If that is a Roadhouse then you made a real killing. MIMs are awesome guitars, and the TS pups are arguably some of the best made by Fender. A Roadhouse is a real scorcher, for sure.

It should be very quick to know for sure if it is a Roadhouse by seeing if it has a tinted neck. In the other pics on your auction, does the neck look tinted? If so, it is definitely a RH. If not, it is likely a MIM Std with a nicely upgraded pickguard.

However ... Even if you are sure that you have a RH, the first thing I would do would be to remove the pickguard and verify what pups you got in there. Even if it started life as a RH, those awesome TS pups may have been pilfered to upgrade another guitar. It happens all the time.

Regardless. You got a good deal no matter what. Now go buy a proper HSC for it. You can get a nice old-school plush tweed case for $50 from GC. This axe clearly deserves it.

Everybody is telling you that you got a good deal, but....
If you look for a used MIM Stratocaster or Telecaster, you can find excellent examples in the $150-$250 range as I have. Case in point;
2001 Fender Stratocaster Standard in 3 tone sunburst 9 out of 10- $175
2003 Fender Classic series 50's Stratocaster in Daphne blue 8/10- $200
1996 Fender Deluxe Fat Strat in Red sparkle 9/10 - $200
2002 Fender Telecaster Standard in 3 tone sunburst 9.5/10 - $200
The 01 Strat and 02 Tele even have the more expensive sunburst finish.
All guitars play beautifully, and were purchased at pawn shops where I could actually see, hear and PLAY the guitar before any money was spent. That cannot be done with Ebay. The guitars I really like, I keep. The ones that are merely okay, I resell for a small profit(after a complete set up and polish)
I am not saying that you got hosed, it is just that you can find what you like if you are willing to do some leg work. I visit my local shops regularly, and pick up the guitars that have just been brought in. My one local pawn shop sets aside guitars for me, cuz he knows I am a good customer, and I prefer Fender products.

That's a great-looking guitar!

Two elephants for a nickel is a great deal, but only if you need elephants and have a nickel.

So what's a good deal? Ask yourself:

1. Am I happy with what I got?
2. Am I comfortable with what I spent?

If the answer to both questions is yes, then you got a good deal. So crank it up!

Is that a roadhouse. I got the same guitar back in may. I absolutely love the tone (especially with my new blues junior). I hope you enjoy the guitar as much as I do.

It's a beautiful guitar, and it looks like it's already set up for it's intonation. I'd say you probably got a good deal. when you get it, and you play it, if you can't put it down for long without going back to pick it up and play again, then you got a fantastic deal :!:
