I was wondering to buy new Fender American Strat.
After some time I found that every today Stratocasters have thin modern C necks. There are American Deluxe with V neck, but this V neck is thin also.

On the other side there are many Artist series with thick or thicker necks, like Ritchie Blackmore, John Mayer, Eric Johnson.
Just Eric Johnson fits me very well, but I want to buy some Strat with thick neck and noiseless pickups.

The question is, why Fender produces mainstrea guitars with thin necks and only thick necks are Artist Series?

Thanks.

There are a some Fenders with thicker necks that are not part of the Atist Series.

Classic Series '70s Strat
Classic Series '50s Strat
Classic Players '50 Strat
American Deluxe V-neck Strat
Vintage Hot Rod '62

There are others.

The American Deluxe V-neck has noiseless pups.

Yeah....I think the V-neck/noiseless pup combo is going to be hard to find.

The thickest Strat neck I've tried is the U-shaped Classic Series '70s. Very chunky, but no noiseless pups.

Good luck.

Ummm....V-Neck and Noiseless PUP combo?...EC model, who cares about the signature if the guitar has the specs you want. Look past the guitars designation.

Been a long while since I played an Eric Johnson Strat, so not sure just how close they are...but I own an EC Strat and the neck is a nice medium V, fills your hand nicely.

You could always buy one with a neck profile that you like and swap out the pickups. They're are quite a few Noiseless pickups on e-bay from guys who swapped them out of their guitars because they liked something else better. Just a thought.

I find this thread interesting in that you've also posted an interest in the '57VHR the neck of which is slightly flatter than the America Dlx. The Clapton neck is sleekest neck in the line,[ I own all three]. and slimmer than the EJ. If you feel that the 'modern C' [which I personally do not care for..being a v-neck player] is too thin, your best choice will be the new American Vintage '56 with the 10/56 neck, if it's a Strat you seek.

Yes, youre right ZZDoc.
Eric Johnson Strat is based on '57 model, so I was thinking that the Hot Rod 57 would have
same or very similar neck.
I was very surprised when I take Hot Rod 57 to my hands. It was really slimmer

So, I dont know if EJ Strat neck is similar to American Vintage 56, but Im
wondering to buy EJ Strat and change the pickups for noiseless.
Another bad think is, when you accidentaly slap thin e string it goes off the nut, because no
string tree.
Ironically EJ on his signature Strat which he is using have string tree installed...

The 10/56 neck on the AV'56 is definitely 'chunkier' and it is a must to play if you want a sense of that compared to the EJ or the AmDlx-V. Some players have told me that it tires their hand. In my collection, the fullness/and cross-sectional thickness decreases from the AmDlx>'57VHR>'57VRI 'C' neck on the Gilmour. The Clapton is a totally different neck design which I will leave out of this discussion.

Wow, a Blackmore Stratocaster has a thicker neck? it has the U shaped neck but thick?
It has a really narrow neck compared to my Flying V or my Les Paul Junior. Even my Charvel has a wider neck (fretboard).
I like the U shape on my Blackmore and Antigua but I wouldn´t call them thicker necks.
Maybe it is just me or maybe it is because I am used to fatter necks.
Yes, I would like to see Fender offering different neck profiles with the American Standard.

All the best,
Robin

Then it wouldn't be an American Standard.

I'm beginning to believe that Fender is cutting costs by using less wood (thin necks).

When searching for a beefier neck profile (baseball bat), the thing you need to watch out for is the differences in radius.
The American standard has the 9.5" radius, the classic series necks mentioned have a 7.25" radius, and the EJ mentioned has a 12" compound radius I believe. The radius will determine how flat the fretboard feels.

As I recall, the 'modern C'. which is the stock neck on most of the guitars, was developed with the intention of giving the neck more of a rounded shoulder support to the hand and a played in feel.
