So I finally bit the bullet and wired up a new setup for one of my strats in a ssh. Two Dimarzio Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues and a Dimarzio X2N in the bridge. While I was at it I added a neck on switch like Gilmour has on his Black Strat. I did the wiring with some 500k pots at first, but they sounded bad, to bright to me, so I re-wired it with 250k pots and that hit the spot perfect.

I will have to get some sound bites loaded up and posted.

I'm planning a Strat upgrade to include a Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues in the neck position so I'll be interested in how you like that pickup.

I have another strat with an Area 58 in the neck and I am liking the VV Heavy Blues a lot better for my style of playing. It seems a little cleaner and has a little more midrange punch. With the neck on switch engaged with the X2N humbucker on it really shines..

In the past, I'd upgraded a Buddy Guy Standard with Virtual Vintage Blues at the neck and middle, and a Heavy Blues at the bridge. That was about the time both the guitar and the pickups hit the market. Gone now but no complaints.

I have the Dimarzio Area's in mine. Sound great for my Strat. Dimarzios's are great, congrats!
