Well I just bought a 1998 USA Strat for only 450 bucks! I think its just a Standard strat in Midnight Wine color. Nothing too special about it. Do you guys think I made a good buy? Please let me know.

Hello Jorgeradiohead,

Seems like a good price.
What condition is it in?

Cheers.

Its practically brand new! Hardly even been touched. The only change I made was put new strings, because it seemed like they still had the original set on them. The only complaint I have is the whammy bar. It seems to sit way too high when installed. Do you think I can find one that is smaller and lower, kinda like the way my idol David Gilmour uses?

Dude...you made a great buy. Those same guitars seem to run in the $600 plus range in my neck of the woods.

Congrats!

Great guitar! My main guitar is a 98 MIA, and it's probably my favorite guitar in the world, I'd be happy if I never had anything else ever.

I paid like $630 for it in 98 brand new. They hold their value pretty good, since most used ones go for around that now.

It was a great year for Strat, and a great vibe for music then, right before the whole Y2K/millenium thing and all that. You'll get some cash for a pre-2K American Strat someday :)

Congrats on the new strat - how about some pics? - you might want to remove the small screw under the trem arm (if it's still there). That may lower the arm. Just don't torque the arm down too hard and strip the threads.

Gratz!

You really got it for a killer price, especially if it's practically brand new!
