I'm looking to buy a Black Clapton Strat. Someone i know is selling one, but it does not say Blackie on it, like i have normally seen. It is a 2002 Black Clapton Strat- is this usual, or are there no black ones without Blackie on it?

The Clapton Strats in colors other than black don't have "BLACKIE" under Clapton's signature.

So maybe, from time to time, in the factory, the wrong neck gets put on a black one. Mix ups do happen (I know, I have a 2005 guitar that has a mixed-up-at-the-factory part). Or maybe it got switched around by a previous owner (you can never be sure with a used guitar).

It would have to devalue the guitar, unfortunately.
Make him an offer, if it doesn't bother you, that is.
