This may have been asked before, but what are you favorite pickups (not what are the best, because it's all a matter of personal taste). I'm curious what is popular right now.

To answer just copy and paste the list below and put an "*" next the pickup you like.
I'm doing it this way, because for some reason the polling part of this forum is not working right now. I've tried multiple times, but with no luck.

CS Texas Specials
Fat '50s
CS '54s
CS '69s
Samarium Cobalt
Vintage Noiseless
Tex-Mex
'57/'62s
Gold Lace Sensors
N3 Noiseless
Stock Strat pickups

Paris...tuff choice, but got to go with the 57/62 pickups, they are probably the best all around although I have not personally played the fat 50's! Those might edge my choice out!

It's hard to decide. Personally I really dig the CS '54s. I own: CS '54s, Gold Lace Sensors, CS '69s and Texas Spc.

I also have a '79 Strat with Van Zandt True Vintage pickups. That guitar has that SRV sound a lot of people love.

I'm a solid Gold Lace guy, tried most of them over the years and these come closest to what I hear in my head.

If we're just talking replacement pickups then I love the Vintage Noiseless. CS 54's a close second.

But still nothing comes close to the stock pickups in my 83 strat. Those are just sublime.

It depends on the application (live, performing, recording).

I like the 54s, 57/62s, 69s and Hot noiseless.

For Fender pickups I have played through Tex-Mex, Stock Highway 1, Stock MIM Standard, Fat 50's, and Texas Specials.

I really dig the Fat 50's.

Given that list, I have to say the Texas Special, as it's the only actual Fender pickup I currently run in any of my Strats. And that's just as a single solitary pickup in the mid position of one of them.

I'm more of a Seymour Duncan person, although I'm certainly tempted by a set of Fat 50's after hearing all the praise they get.

You know to make this post a little more informative how about we post the tones we are looking for out of our Strats?

As I said I like the Gold Lace sensors, the reason is this Strat is my clean machine. Think glass like tones, Dire Straits, clean Clapton, clean Buddy Guy, country pick'n, etc. The mid boost I am installing should give me "more" of the clean plus the ability to really drive the tube front end of my little Super Champ X2.

For harder tones I move to humbuckers.

I've a big fan of the Lace Sensors since I got my '87 Strap Plus back in '93. That guitar was one of the reasons why I bought a Clapton Strat with Lace Sensors in '01.

Having said that, I'll tell you now that the mid boost is going to darken up your sound a bit. It will also make the guitar louder and yes, give you some really nice OD on your amp's tubes.

The, "Rush" sound track is a great example of Clapton's early '90s sound and it has some of Buddy Guy's best playing I've every herd (he guest appears on at least one track).
