Amazing job, Fender. It came set up perfectly, the pickups sound beautiful, the chunky neck is incredible, and the thin--yes, thin--finish is done to perfection. This guitar has the best-feeling neck I've ever played. It compliments my 1957 AVRI perfectly.

I'll try to get up some pics later, unless someone can tell me how to upload them from Facebook (if that's possible?).

That looks like you got it from Guitar Gallery in Tuscaloosa, am I right?

Right, you are! I'll try to get those neck comparison pics soon; was really busy over the weekend.

Brand-new "Brownie" NOS! :o
Brownie has always been my favorite guitar. I neither have the cash nor the inclination to lay down $15K for a Clapton "Brownie" (relic stuff just isn't for me), but I was thrilled when Fender did a '56 with the new line of Vintage guitars. The color of the sunburst is great and the chunky neck is so awesome I'm pretty sure I'm smiling like a big idiot while I'm playing it.

Different strokes I guess. I've seen the original [ at the EMP] and the repro[yesterday at GC Hallandale] up close and personal. Nothing about either pushes my buttons. I don't particularly care for that tobacco burst. The salesman at Hallandale told me that he'd A/B'd the Clapton against a new '56. Based upon what he had to say, you did well with your acquisition. In that YOU are pleased, what more is there to say.

Ha! Small world! I remember your pic. That's a sweet-looking guitar you got, there.

BTW: you'll want to check the allignment of that first string, the sadle isn't flush against the others. Make sure it is, makes the string run better over the magnets too.

As long as we're giving this guitar the 'sniff test', the 6,5,4, strings appear to be drawing across the saddles out of the UL corner of the slot. It does not appear to be a factor of the angle of the shot. Check it out.

Interesting observation.... the guitar definitely needs an overall check on allignment of sadles & strings. No harm done yet since everything is shiny and new, but better adjust before things start to wear in the wrong way....

Fixed. Thanks for pointing that out. I would have noticed it; in my excitement to drool and post some pics I overlooked the obvious. Loving the chunky neck more and more.
