Considering getting a black HSH version and wanting to hear what other owners think about it and what kind of sounds one can expect with that pickup configuration. Love the looks and don't mind it being a MIM version.

not sure what HSH is but I just purchased a black top hh tele.
MIM . I have two fenders MIm and actually think there better than the american ones for me ,in sound. I played both in the music store for hours and wanted to buy the american
but just liked the mim better. same thing with my tele. mim both guitars are flawless. I have a les paul made in china paid a thousand bucks for it and quality control is $@!&.
my black top tele has 2 humberbucker pickups and they are still very bright was thinking of
putting in some deep dimarzio pickups and coil tapping them to all the options.
dont know if that helps but i no you wont be dissapointed i have a bunch of gibsons and resently
started play fenders and cant put them down fender guitars are just done right.

HSH is basically the same as your HH with a middle pickup that appears to be a Telecaster neck pickup. I checked one out at my LMS (local music store) but I was in a hurry and didn't get time to plug it in to an amp.

Guitarist magazine gave it the thumbs up .I had a Blacktop strat for a while and loved it .Sadly my back didnt,I had a touch of post viral whatever and was feeling a bit weak .Incidentally my Blacktop was bought as a loaded body and a month or two later a separate neck .They fitted perfectly and I screwed the neck on ,strung it and was away playing in about 15 minutes .perfect fit ,intonation and action. Not bad Fender Mexico .

I'll be watching this for some time. Hopefully we'll be lucky enough to get one online- without trying- because that's the only way I can get one of these. Hopefully one used at under $400. More so the HH-FR variant, since I don't wish to overpay for any of these guitars by way of shipping/taxes.

Honestly, unless I want some quacky tones, I never use the middle pickup. Not sure how a humbucker will sound when matched with a single coil unless the 2 and 4 positions split the coil in conjunction. Or else the output of the humbucker will over power the single coil. And if you use the single coil alone, its output volume will seem very quiet to you as well..

I have a black black-top HSH...
and it is AMAZING !

First of all, you won't find anything "Strat"-sounding about it.
The neck pickup has a wonderful warm response with rich lows.
The middle pick-up has an almost reverse "wa" sound to it,
a very telecaster-like "aw" sound, if you will.
The bridge pick-up is nice and raspy.
You can imagine the variety of sound in any combination of pick-ups.

Of course, I put locking tuners on mine right away and re-strung it with Super Bullets (9s)
Kept going back n forth between Boomers n Bullets.

This has been my go-to girl for almost any type of music.

But if you're looking for that distinct Strat-quack, this ain't it.
But it IS a great sounding guitar that's well worth the bread !
