If a trussrod isn't working properly can it be fixed? Seller describes the problem like this. "when you tighten the truss rod the neck comes straight but over the next 24 hours the relief gradually increases and the strings pull the neck forward again". It won't stay put. Does anyone know if this can be fixed?

Withtout seeing the guitar , I must say no. And most of the time ( if not all the time) truss rod problem is costly.

Or seller did not know how to adjust truss rod . Truss rod can need many adjustment and can often take 24 hours between them to be alright.

In you case , don't buy it .

I gotta agree with this...it sounds like the seller simply may not know what he/she is doing, but without actually seeing the guitar in person, it's just impossible to tell. Yea, there are A LOT of people who simply just don't have a clue when it comes to truss rod adjustments....two guitars that I recently acquired had the truss rods backed off completely. In fact with the Lite Ash, it took me a good 3 days to really get the truss rod tightened back up again....adjusted it a bit on day one, a bit more on day two then finally got the neck straight on day three...she's stayed put since. That said, if the neck does in fact have a broken truss rod...while I won't use the words "impossible to fix", it's CONSIDERABLY easier and MUCH less expensive to simply replace the neck.

So with that, unless you're getting a truly outstanding deal on the instrument that would make it worth the risk of a possible neck replacement or there is something special about the body (such as high end pickups) that could warrant the purchase, I would have to agree with 52 there...don't buy it. As they say, there's plenty of other fish in the sea.

Just my $.02 worth,
Jim

Rarely, and at great expense. If the screwthread is stripped then you have to dismantle the neck and replace the rod, for a guitar like this it doesn't justify the expense.

I'd consider buying it for a partscaster build though. Factor in the price of a new neck and make an offer?

The only way to fix a truss rod is to pull it out which requires either removing the fretboard or removing the skunk stripe. Basically unless its a vintage piece, you're better off replacing the neck.
