So I'm given to understand. Curious nothing more has been made of this guitar in the Artist Series or Custom Shop line. I have it on good authority that the guitar was examined very closely at the 2010 Crossroads Concert in Chicago. This from a Forum contributor who was backstage at the time.

There were rumours saying a new USA Artist Series version of Buddy's Strat is in the works.

From what I see this project never came into fruition.

I suspect that's merely a joke.

Hard to tell how the company prioritizes its projects but my information on the subject came from reliable sources. Based on those, I thought it might have happened by now.

The pickups remain a mystery.

FYI one of his black polka dot Strats is fitted with a pair of humbuckers while the other is an active blues-rock beast with black-covered Gold Lace Sensors.

There's a video out of Premier Guitar covering Buddy's rig. At that time, the pickups in the blonde guitar were VN's in a passive circuit. I'm not aware of humbuckers being in any of his Strats.

Interesting. That's something never seen by me in any of his video performances.
