I like the second one better. I've been wanting to get a Strat with a maple-cap neck, Oly White, with big headstock, but with the 6 screw bridge. Very Hendrixy. :)

These Custom Shop Pros had a 2 point and an LSR with Locking Tuners.
I agree though I been wanting Both these old school models for a while.
I keep aiming for one of these and different strats keep chosing me.
For instance I never thought in a million years I would own a gun metal blue 89 Am Std
Now its my number one live guitar.

I have an Am Deluxe HSS Strat with the LSR, shaved heel, locking tuners, rosewood fretboard, and two point trem. Love it, one of my favorites.

I'm not a big fan of Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pups. They sound great over driven, but a little dull when they are used clean.

On a different topic: I started using (going from the guitar to the amp) my Zacke Wylde OD pedal, Big Muff Pie, and a Line 6 Echo Park delay with my Hwy1 w/ CS '69 pups and era correct pots and caps. I'm using a Fender Hot Rod De Ville amp.

I was able to get some really wonderful sustained notes and tone which reminded me of Clapton or Gilmour.

I've never liked the harshness of the Big Muff, but love the sustain you get with it. The OD pedal brings it under control a bit.

Let me know what you think of this set up.

It sounds about like the setup my other guitarist used for years with his 66 strat it was the best sounds I ever heard. He is far more amazing than he gives himself credit for.
Im the outspoken one lol.

I used the set up today in church. We paly a lot of modern Christian rock. I'm lead guitar, but most of work is the Edge or Andy Summers in style. If I do play an extended lead it's usually towards the end of the song aas everything is building.

I've always been impressed how guys like Eric Clapton can play like 4 notes and sound better than guy who play 50 (though there is a place for that). By the way I'm a big fan of Clapton, but Jeff Beck is probibly one of the best guitarists on the the planet.

I remember when the VG Strat came out. I was pretty impressed, but felt that it wouldn't be a guitar I would use too often. I'm kind of sorry to see that they didn't last very long.

This Strat Pro came initially with a 21-fret fingerboard but later Fender updated the model with a 22-fret neck.

Discontinued.

I have an unhealthy desire to go round guitar shops with a spokeshave shaving down the hideous oversized headstocks.... no court could possibly convict...

Yeah I guess the VG is still selling at Best Buy. Hi chromeface yeah that pro is discontinued but the mail order houses still have them. The 60s 70s large peghead gives better sustain. I prefer it actually but I owned one of them first. Nowadays I have both.

I believe the one I just looked at of this Pro model was around $3900 online.

So you have the early 21-fret Pro and the later 22-fret model.

These guitars were introduced during the Custom Shop's 20th Anniversary in 2007.
