I would hazard a guess at highly figured Birdseye maple with locking pearloid sperzel tuners. :D

Birdseye and/or spalted maple.

I wouldn't hazard a guess - I'd say it for certain! :D

What I don't know is what guitar that is. I'm looking at the locking tuners, the pearloid buttons and the honey coloured lacquer - what Tele is that? Does one of the Fender Select Teles have pearloid buttons, or is it a CS?

Cheers - C

I believe it is the Merle Haggard Signature Tele..
Let me dblchk that ... :?

edit .... Nope sorry I was wrong, this guitar is Keith Urban's Tele named " Shattered Mirror Telecaster ". Built by Yuri Shishkov, the top of the body is made out of 160 hand ground, handcut and polished mirror pieces. The top is also slightly arched.
I'll see if I can locate a pic or two...

Hey 53, good catch! I wouldn't have remembered that in a month of Sundays. I'm probably not nuts for the broken mirror thing, but the neck is sex on wheels! Well spotted.

Also, you might want to post the pic of that Merle Haggard neck heel on mhowell's "Question for DIYers" thread. That's just the kind of thing he's talking about.

Cheers - C

Hhhhmmmm...ok...the artist in me finds this rather fascinating. I'm certainly not apposed to the idea of "non-traditional materials". When I first glanced at the pic, I thought it was a graphic of a spider web or something, so the art history student in me is thinking "mosaic"...if they had of used stained glass and had it laid out in a specific pattern, it would probably be even more impressive. That said, the guitarist in me is wondering how it would affect the tone and the old man in me with the bad back is wondering what the weight would be like with all that glass. I also gotta say that as much as the artist in me appreciates this, the guitarist in me would likely be afraid to play it as well...I do try to take care of my instruments, but it's not unheard of for me to knock one off the stand from time to time...then it would REALLY be a shattered mirror! LOL!!! The artist thinks that mirror'd acrylic would be a bit more durable, not to mention a bit less heavy. The luthier in me has been playing with the idea of doing an acrylic guitar body...particularly since finding the "House of Plastics" in downtown Cleveland last week...this certainly provides another idea to kick around.

D_mn...I just have WAY too many people in me! LOL!

Peace,
Jim

Yep. That's it. This is even better than Fenders other set necks. They got it right on that one.
