If it seems to good to be true....
Maybe it is an angry wife selling the goodies from her husband. Go check the guitar but make sure the wife doesn´t come with the guitar though.
Color looks funny.

All the best,
Robin

It seems to look the part.

But fifteen hundred quid isn't quite what I'd expect an authentic 1964 Strat would cost.

Further investigation is warranted before tendering an offer.

My thoughts exactly. If it's real then the price is way too low, if it's a fake then it's a very good one. Either way I can't afford it right now, just thought maybe someone here might have that money burning a hole in his or her wallet.

The pickguard looks okay, but the fact that they are not showing off the neck and the pocket bugs me.

Ha. Interesting.

I certainly don't have the knowledge to accurately assess that guitar, especially from a few small photos. But the price alone makes our eyebrows rise, doesn't it? £1500/$2330 seems several thou' less than it should be for a '64.

For comparison, there's a similar Fiesta Strat from 1962 currently for sale at Vintage & Rare Guitars:

http://www.vintageandrareguitars.com/gu ... itars/8353

Of course, the price is POA - because they feel it would make our eyes water if they wrote it on the website. But you could email them for info, or if you are in London it might be fun to pop in for a look.

However, even in today's market V&RG are asking £4250/$6600 for a 1969 Strat with a refin (elsewhere on that site), so... ya gotta wonder. Or maybe after all it's just a "genuine" '64-Reissue Strat and the guy simply worded his ad badly? That would be approximately right for the price.

Whatever. There's people on this Forum who really know the innards of '60s Strats. I'm curious to hear what they have to say about those electricals.

Also, the seller says he has a "signed document stating that the guitar is 100% original." Signed by whom, I'm wondering? Perhaps it's just a CS COA, and this sale is less mysterious than meets the eye.

Cheers - C

EDIT: spelling.

London? That's 160 miles away. I'm in Manchester and so's the guitar!

Yeah, the "signed certificate" made me laugh. And I remembered that this guy is just a few miles up the road ...

Er, no: I was talking about the Fiesta Strat in Vintage & Rare Guitars in London - I was suggesting you might want to look at that for the sake of comparison. Or just for the fun of it. It's a nice shop.

If you're in Manchester, well then I suppose not. Though it's not so far really (my wife is from Manchester: we know that journey well).

Cheers - C

Ah right, I was wading in without reading the post.

I've been to London though. Twice in fact!

:D Haha - "that London"? It's a den of iniquity, to be sure, but survivable. Or so my Mancunian father-in-law used to say - in his more polite moments.

Cheers - C

If you don't have the money for it, why are you worried about it?
