Hello ,I have some strange situation with date on the body of my guitar ,I wrote a letter to consumer relations Saturday but did not get an answer yet - so I made decision write about my problem here , hope You guys`ll help me. I have fender standart U.S.A. stratocaster: the neck number is : z6025786, there is a mark on the reverse side is: may 06 2006. BUT on the body I have mark: may 6 6 1998 (4 components data!). It seems that guitar wasn`t opened before ,the condition is exсellent. How that`s could be? Do I have parts from different guitars? And why body mark have 4 components data? Is it looks authentic? What do You think about it? I put some photos here. In advance, wanna thank You for attention and sorry for my English.

Did you buy it used or new?

I don't know if Fender still does it today but they're known for sometimes using older parts still in stock. So this could be an older body which was still on stock at the factory, paired with a newer neck.

If it is a used guitar, then the previous owner might have replaced the neck or just put together an entire guitar with Fender parts.

I would wait for Fender consumer relations coming back at ya.
They can tell you exactly, how the guitar left the factory.

Thank`s for reply. I bought it used, the seller told me that he was the second owner. What about authentic look? Could it be fake ore may be body from Mexican/Japanese guitar and Neck is American? Hope My guitar is not a Lego constructor) I never heard that Fender were using older parts ,but in that way it looks probable - cause the condition of body and neck is the same and so great, almost new.

i very much doubt the factory would have a 1998 body still sitting about in 2006, then decide to put them together tand sell them. ive seen people talking about parts being made a year or 2 apart, but nearly a decade apart ??

at least it all looks genuine though.

Yes, you're right, probability of 8 years difference is not high, if at all.
They had up to 4 years some time in the 80s but I doubt they would have 8 years nowadays or 10 years ago.

Now nowing, that it has been bought used, I seriously suspect a partscaster from genuine parts or at least an exchanged neck for some reason.

I forgot:
from what I can see in the pics, it looks at least all Fender to me.
Still some details missing in the pics, though.

Yes it is logical that 1998-2006 so long time for sticking body on factory, but coincidence of dates on neck and body is so strange too, may 06 2006 and may 6 6 1998 - the first 3 digits are the same, and why the body number consists 4 parts. The unclear thing. About genuine I`am not sure 100% but I watched the other Fender Guitar 90-s Standart Stratocaster it was looking similar, and of course it sound`s like Fender - very good. And one more - seller told me that the first owner was keeping guitar under the sofa for many years and it was never used for playing.

The body and neck look legit to me; probably someone did a neck swap at some point, putting that 2006 neck on a 1998 body. You never know; someone could have had several Strats and just matched up a body and a neck that head the same day (but different years) for some crazy reason. I suppose at worst case it's a Strat assembled from Fender parts bought off of ebay or something like that.

How about the pickups? I couldn't tell from your shot of the full guitar but are the polepieces flat or are they staggered height?

I believe the guitar is a '98 or '99 American standard that the neck was replaced on with a 2006 American series neck.

The body is equipped with the micro-tilt adjustment and 2 point trem bridge which suggests it's an American series body.
Both the date on the body and the guitar case suggests late 90's origin, but the neck is a 2006 Anniversary year American series neck.

Guys, Thanks for answering - here I put some photos of strap button http://www.pictureshack.ru/images/74756_IMG_0565.JPG, Fender cover http://www.pictureshack.ru/images/7055_IMG_0563.JPG, Case label http://www.pictureshack.ru/images/7685_IMG_0567.JPG and answering the question about height of polepieces I put this photo http://www.pictureshack.ru/images/25787_IMG_0566.JPG . So can You tell me are all this details usual for 90-s ore 2000-s Fender guitars?

It looked pretty good
Someone may have wanted to change color or wore out a neck
I misread post first time I posted.

I really think the term Partscaster is discouraging.
Looks from pictures like a good guitar have fun and do what you want to it.

Thanks for posting the photos of the pickups; my best guess is it's the body and electronics from the 1998 and the neck and neck plate from the 2006.

I'm not sure about that case - for some reason I thought that Fender had stopped using the red logo cases by 1998 but I could be wrong on that. I just don't remember what came with an American Standard back then; I was looking at American Deluxes and and the "hot rodded" ones like the Lone Star which came with the black tolex case.

The Schaller strap lock buttons support the '98/99 body theory.

Thanks everybody for participation. Now I know that all parts are genuine and most likely someone changed neck on this guitar , so in very really exceptional case that neck can be native but only consumer relations can tell exactly (but they don`t answer me yet) ,anyhow this is Fender and everything in good condition and sounds very well.I compared it with my other guitar (old Japan Strat) Fender killed it easily. My interest partial satisfied. Let`s see what consumer relations tell , I hope I`ll get the answer. Best wishes everybody.
