Hello, the inscriptions on the buttons on my 2003 Classic 50s are green, while on others they are golden.
Is this a peculiarity of this model?

Could be.
There's many different knobs used on guitars.
Dunno if you bought it used but some players tend to make their guitars look different from those of other players, so they exchange them. Maybe the previous owner did.

It doesn't matter at all, they're cheap parts and can easily be exchanged if you don't like the look.

I could also imagine, that the paint used in the lettering engraving reacts with sweat or oxygen, together with some dirt.

The picture looks like golden ink which is dirty and has changed the coloration a bit, making it look greenish.

Hi isdi: the gold paint used on the numbers on knobs is of course not gold, it's bronze or brass based, which means the colour comes from the copper content. When copper oxidises with exposure to moisture it turns to verdigris - which is green.

That's what's going on with your knobs.

Cheers - C

+1

Merely an aged-based chemical reaction -- nothing to be concerned about.

you have a green knob. It is caused by twiddling it too much with your sweaty hands.

Looks like I got knobs from different paint types..."Tone" has clearly turned greenish, yet "Volume" still looks golden-ish...thought the plastic as yellowed more than the other two. Go figure...

Your volume knob may be a replacement from a different "batch" of plastic, Joe (or the tone knobs are).

Yep! Two different sets of knobs mixed up, Joe.

I had not noticed was seeing another Strat with a friend that I've seen the difference, but I like it, it goes well with his old appearance.

isdi, I noticed this same thing on a set of knobs and made the mistake of trying to clean them with an old toothbrush and some liquid soap. I very easily stripped out some of the paint - bad times! I wouldn't recommend it.

Take a sharpie and re-paint the engravement or just leave it as is, you know what volume and tone is, right?

Some things I personally just don't care, sorry

To me the main thing is: it's a Fender knob which I like best! Even my Gibson Firebird has Fender knobs, the other one will get some soon. 8)

EACH of my guitars has Fender knobs by now, except one Firebird.

I don't care if it says volume or tone. I just need the figures from 1 to 10. :D

Yes, I know, I'm strange, ha ha ha
