We know that the CS are higher than the AM. But there is much difference of money and little difference in sound. What think you?

I have the CS and AM, both with Custom Shop Texas Special pickups, and there is not much difference in the sound. The truth is almost the same sound.

I'm not really qualified to answer this question because I have "0" experience with Fender's Custom Shop offerings, but I am a firm believer that the American Standards are truly Fender's best value and even more so now that they come with Custom Shop Fat50's pickups. But otherwise; what are you looking for in terms of sound? I'd expect a good Strat to sound sound like a good Strat and if I can save a few dollars in the process then that's what I'd go with unless there's something a little nicer that really captures your attention.

I would see the custom shop as getting your dream guitar built.
A one off costs money.
I couldnt justify a custom shop production guitar.
But then again I build my own.

Let me explain.

Fender american stand 1.099 dollar vs Fender Custom Shop 3.500 dollar.

The CS is better guitar, best wood, best construction and more than two thousand dollars more expensive.

For a difference of more than two thousand dollars the sound difference is not much, not much difference in sound. Sad I have to pay more than two thousand dollars and the difference is minimal. Sure both have fender custom shop texas special pickup.

The pickup custom shop 50, 54, 60 are cleaner with less output and less resistance, I do not like

Is the wood really that much "better" or does it mostly look better? One thing with the American Standard bodies is that they are mode from from more pieces of lumber (3 - 5) vs. a Custom Shop Strat, but I don't feel that this detracts from the guitar unless you get a bad one. And here's the thing....I am of the opinion that wood has less impact on amplified tone than we tend to think. It's still a part of the formula, but I don't think the difference is as great on a solid body. If we were talking about acoustic guitars, it would be different because the wood - especially the top - has a direct influence on the sound.

The 2012 Am Std has Fat 50s pups, not Texas Specials.

I install Custom Shop Texas Special to AM, so comparing it with the CS and sound almost the same, there is no big difference

I'm with you Jason on this.
3 days ago i was in a friends house playing with some strats.
We had a custom shop,a standard and a japan squier e series.(it was his but now it's mine  )

Anyway,it felt different in my hands all 3 but not that much to justify the price you have pay for the custom shop.
But whatever fits your needs.
For me,my 1998 standard is good enough to play any kind of music.
What i want to say is this: if i need a very good proffesional guitar to get the job done i will try out 3,4,5 standarts and i'll pick one that feels good to me.
If i want something "special",with mojo,i'll pick a custom Fender and i will be very happy with my self.

I don't agree :D and to me there is a huge difference.I owned various American Standard Strats and now an AVRI 62 strat.(I had the chance to play two CS strats a Gİlmour NOS and Jeff Beck which were excellent in terms of playing and quality)The difference in sound and playing is huge.American standards are fine instruments with good sound. But the more you pay ,the higher quality you get..In terms of playing the 62 is playing like butter. You get a 2 piece light alder body playing like dream with low action. It has all the notes and harmonics there..I don not say american standard is not a good guitar. It is a fine piece of art but there is a real diffrence in terms of quality ,playing and craftmanship between even AVRI and USA standard series...There are exceptions for sure(Even a squier might also have the tone and vibe )but in general there are differences.I respect wht you feel but I think this way after 10 years of playing so many strats.Cheers ..Hakan...
