Hello there--

Long time lover of strats, but haven't found the right one yet. Settled on a 3 Tsb 60's Custom Shop Relic a while back-- feel was wonderful, but the tone just wasn't there. Feeling some serious love for the old ash-bodied 2 tone maple neck strats from yesteryear, and while I'd love to have a vintage, I just can't justify spending more on a guitar than I have on my car.. haha.

That said, I'd still like something special, and so I've been deliberating between the '54 masterbuilt 50th anniversary model and the Buddy Holly Custom Shop offering. Have any of you ever had the chance to compare the two? Even thoughts about the selection would be helpful to me..

The anni seems really nice-- especially with all the little details they paid attention to, to mimic the originals. The Buddy Holly guitar also looks lovely, and I like a little bit of age on my instruments. But without the provenance, I'm not too sure what makes it that much more special. The limited distribution is nice though.. but then I've always been somewhat putt off by artist model guitars. Do you think the Holly Strat warrants the extra $ or should I look out for a masterbuilt anni? I'd go regular Custom Shop, but I'd like something a little extra special and wasn't thrilled with what I had last time.

Many thanks for the advice..

Have you looked into this model yet......?

Fender did their homework here, to include a correctly-located string tree and bridge saddles stamped "PATENT PENDING". If you're "joined at the hip" with ash, the white blonde finish option gives you the ash body. Sonically, the pickups are voiced to deliver the traditional spank and chime one expects from a premium re-issue Strat.
