Hey I was working on my strats this morning and noticed that the pickups in my 89 standard are extremelly hot.
I have a Dimarzio D'Activater in my American Deluxe and a Evolution in my Highway 1.
I just am amazed that the stock single coils in my American 89 standard are as hot as these humbuckers, any idea what they used?

I just traded for this thing a week ago and always thought ill of 80s strats. This one changed my mind.
It stays in tune when whammyed unless you go nuts and sound like a beast.

My #1 is an 86/87 American Standard and I have a second one from 88.
They're both relatively hot compared to my 2002 Texas Special.

I love the strats from mid to end 80s. Best standard(!) Fender pickups I ever heard, at least for my personal taste.

My two mid 90s Buddy Guys can't be compared, they're much hotter. They're a totally different world.

Thanks for talking to me.
Yeah I agree they are not getting changed. I only took out the TBX tone from the bridge pickup and jut wired it american standard with new 250k fender pot.
The neck on it is incredible the guitar stays in tune great and is heavy.
I only put a fender plastic black trim kit and a brass chrome plated fender pickguard.
I am just so amazed how great this thing plays and sounds.
Its got me leaving my 08 and 09 at home lol

Well, the TBX is actually what I really love in these guitars. :)

The body on the American Deluxe has been routed to accept the original Floyd Rose tremolo.

The neck is drilled with two holes in the back to accept the bolts securing the locking nut.

With the factory-installed Schaller locking tuners your baby will always stay in tune.

I always wanted to have a Floyd Rose equipped Strat (in fact, I used to have one, an Iron Maiden Signature made in Japan. I had to sell it when I went through a bad time).

Then I decided to stick with Ibanez for Floyd Rose equipped Strats, because of the 24 frets I want on those guitars. But still, everytime I see a Fender with Floyd, I suffer from GAS! 8)

The first Original Floyd Rose Fenders were the Japanese HRR Strats, the precursors to the Floyd Rose Classics of 1992.

Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi's scorching lead guitarist) endorsed the HRRs before his signature model from which these guitars were based came into production in 1991.

I did the front mount on an R-4 Schaller locking nut and I had to mill a channel down the back of it. I didnt want to drill holes for a rear mount in the neck. The channel is to get the truss wrench down in there.
The body and neck were done by an old guy that works on many country stars guitars. He did a beautiful job. I had to fill a redrill studs is all cuz it rubbed a bit.
The pickguard came from warmoth.
I did leave the locking tuners on yes.
It was a nightmare to have all this done, it was worth it but it took a couple months to get right.
But now it has a recessed pull back and flutters like Brad Gillis.

So the locking trem is a recessed Floyd Rose.

Yes I didnt rout it its proffesionall done but yes its awesome an Original floyd rose. I tried to save money and go floyd rose special. Within 2 weeks I bought the real deal cuz the Special is junk nothing but pot metal.
I sometimes wish I left it alone untill I got it going again I was pretty bummed out about it as it went.
Finally I got a playing machine works perfect and Im happy again.
The price was tag is about $400 to do it you gotta get an original floyd system about $200 bucks
Professional install about $150
Pickguard $35 I just went with a solid black back plate
It has an F spaced Dimarzio D'Activater an Area 61 Middle and a Dimarzio Injecter Neck.
