Rosewood.

I did hear a rumour that some people use other woods for fretboards. But I didn't believe them.

Ebony fretboard. Maple or mahogany neck.

Rosewood is great for coffee tables.

All of 'em!
To be honest, I don't feel differences regarding fretboard wood. My mostly experienced differences are regarding neck shape and frets.

I NEVER(!!) thought "oops, this fretboard wood feels different" but I very frequently say "this neck doesn't feel as comfortable as..." and "these frets suck!".

I have mahogany necks with rosewood, maple necks with rosewood and maple necks with maple fretboards. They certainly sound different, though.

I don't care, whether they're finished glossy, matte or not at all on the back of the neck, it's all the same to me, except for my Gibson Firebirds, they seem to collect dirt and sweat within a blink of an eye! There must be SOMETHING different in Gibson's neck finishes. Other than that, I don't care.

I have a real dilemma. I like the soft V profile and 7.25" radius. However, I also like Rosewood fretboards...

So I'm stuck with one or the other... Wish there was a V neck profile rosewood fretboard Stratocaster that wasn't a custom shop model.

I like all of them also, but why do you think Fender uses maple more than any other of the large guitar companies?

Its cheaper and they don't have to import it. Most of Fender's wood is from the US and maybe Canada...

I love rosewood boards on huge fat necks.

What does my best sounding main gigging/session guitar have? A maple board and a neck which is skinny in all the wrong places. Dammit.

I'm with you!!! I love a big fat neck on a guitar, yet my number one is a modern C profile Stratocaster...

What I prefer depends on the guitar.

I prefer Rosewood fretboards on all acoustic guitars. Not that picky on the neck, it all feels the same with lacquer.

I like the stock maple necks on all Fender electric guitars.

Indifferent on Strat fretboards, rosewood or maple.

Maple fretboards on Teles.
The Tele is more Percussive and the maple fretboard is a bit more responsive to string attack, which is benefitial to a percussive style of playing.
