It might be an illusion in the photograph but it appears to me that the treble side of your tremolo is closer to the edge of the pickguard than the bass side.

Have you ever pulled off your tremolo to see if the two screws are in good shape?

You're absolutely right. In fact, the bridge plate seems to have dug into the pickguard a little, and you can see that the treble side tremolo screw isn't quite perpendicular to the bridge plate. I've posted a couple more pics that make it more clear.

No, I've never removed the tremolo--I'm very new to any sort of guitar maintenance work. I'm guessing this issue will need to be fixed by an experienced repair guy, but out of curiosity, how do you think one might handle this? I can't tell just by looking whether or not there's actual damage to the wood, but maybe there's something else causing the weird positioning of that screw?

Very easy to do if you follow the fender support adress I give you before.

You must learn that , it is a must . If not you'll waist your time and money at guitar store very often.

Hi, I'm not sure what you're referring to as "very easy to do" here. Can you please clarify? Thanks.

Mr. pants,

I'd suggest you take it a repair man to get an opinion on it. It seems to me that screw has moved under tension from the bridge. It does happen over time- especially with these older ones. Good news is, it can be fixed. But find someone and take it to them would be a good idea :)

Thanks. That sounds like the thing to do. Unfortunately, my favorite repair shop is booked for the next month, so I'll need to wait it out or find someone else. :(

I've seen some of the 2 point trm plates chip a little where it's cut like that for the screw and then they'll move like that.

It is an easy set up to do , look on Fender support or on the web.
