I plan to buy a 62 reissue all original with case and case candy...The owner is a collector.I know that the year of manufacture is written on the neck heel but I do not have the opportunity to open the neck ..The owner says that color is sherwood green..(Is the color written anywhere on the hang tangs or is there anyway to find the color with the serial number which is V163840?..It is not avaliable now but my question is; their period of production with this color option.?I believe it is between 2008 anad 2010.Just for my curiosity..
Thanks.
Hakan.

Unfortunately you can't decode anything from an American Vintage model's serial number. The color code should be in that model number from the hang tag, but off the top of my head I can't find a link to a Fender color chart. You could email Fender's Consumer Relations the serial number; they should be able to verify the color. They can be reached at consumerrelations@fender.com

That being said I formerly owned a 1999 sherwood green AV '62 Strat - that color was a much darker green than this guitar. Since this one is more "blue-ish" I believe this one is ocean turquoise. The sherwood green was only made for about 3 years circa 1998-2000; ocean turquoise was made later in the decade and seems like it ran from 2005-2010 or so which would cover the years you believe this guitar is from (2008-2010).

As I say Fender can verify it, but if I were a betting man I would put my money on it being ocean turquoise.

Let us know what the customer service group says... I'd like to know because that doesn't look green to me... but my green strat does look blue in many pictures...

Thanks for replies..As you have mentioned Ocean turquoise looks very close ..I posted a mail to consumer relations and share their reply here as soon as I get their answer...Greenish colors are hard to capture in photos. Also I bought the guitar today and it is on the way.. I will share its photos as soon as I get it ..I am looking forward to play this beauty..
Last month there was a Blues Fest in my hometown İzmir.Smokin Joe Kubek was here with his 62 ri ,Twin Reverb and OCD pedal..It was the sweetest sounding instrument I heard so I decided to get one...I recently own a USA standard and after playin 62 ri the one I like the most will stay...

http://www.pbase.com/twangcentralguitar ... _turquoise This looks very close....

Thanks a lot and cheers from Turkey..

P.s.The colour turquoise comes from word Turkish. It is blueishgreenish color that represents Turks in ancient times...Since I am from Turkey it would be nice.

You can find a color chart under the support section of the website, I had a problem finding it too until Bluer Monkey pointed me in the right direction.

Ah... I thought it was blue, and described it as such on another thread a couple of days ago. Oops - sorry!

Very pretty, whatever it is. Nice work.

Cheers - C
