A few years ago I purchased a 2003 Sage Green Fender Stratocaster, but I never have time to play it. It's a beautiful guitar, and in almost perfect condition, but I really am not fond of the color. It's made in Mexico, however it is a rarer color. If I was looking to sell it, how much would it be worth? I keep going back and forth on selling it.

The picture above isn't of my particular guitar, it's just one I grabbed off of google images because I didn't have a camera handy. However mine looks the exact same, the only difference is the serial number

That 350.00 would be in perfect un-played condition with a hard case in my area. A lot depends on the area you live in. Sage Green is not that rare in around Chitown. They come up every couple of months on CL.

Check your local listings and see what similar ones go for. Don't count on the color being more, unless you have a Splatocaster.

Three and a half bills would be an optimum price.

Despite the Sage Green finish (and any nebulous "rarity" factor), the guitar remains a bread-and-butter Strat.

Ok, thanks so much. That's what I was thinking, but I wanted to double check. I'm honestly thinking my best bet might be to just try and trade it for another fender strat that's just in a different color

It would be worth way less as a trade in maybe $200 if you are lucky

I know I wouldn't get much from a trade-in at a guitar center or something like that. I was thinking more of finding someone through craigslist, or through a mutual friend who might be interested in one.

So....if you know of anyone who likes sage green...please pass my info along :)
Thanks!

Sage green....uhhhggg...yea...horrid color. Anyways, yea...Craiglist would be my suggestion as well. Maybe even check around in your area for some local guitar shows...I've gotten a couple really fair swaps that way too. Actually picked up a decent little Applause acoustic/electric at a show in trade for a Squier Strat that I slapped together from parts...the partscaster didn't really cost me anything at all (maybe $20 total), so it was a really good deal :-)

Peace,
Jim

$250 to $350 depending on the wear. Might suggest just swapping the body. Much cheaper. Probably in the ball park of $125 to $175 and you can sell you old body. I actually think that is a fantastic color.
