I tried a set. They don't do anything for me.

They seemed stiffer, I didn't like the tone and of course, for inherently what they are, they are overpriced.

I had them (a 10-46 set) on my main '92 Plus for a while. I actually loved the stiffer feel on the lower strings, but the tone really left me a bit cold. Soon took them off and popped my usual Optima Silvers back on.

However, they are superb with a slightly dark humbucker equipped guitar - a friend put them on his Les Paul, and they really seemed to suit it rather well.

Yeah i get the feeling they may be more suited to humbucker style guitars...hmmm saw a youtube vid with Kenny Wayne Shepherd using them on his Strat and he said they are great....i will stay with my fender bullets for now methinks.

I put a set on my American Deluxe HSS. They are a little bit brighter. Minutely brighter. A little stiffer but not much. The only thing I don't like about them is the feel. They're not as smooth. As in, when sliding down a wound string they seem to grip more.
On the plus side they last longer. I'm putting a set of Slinkys black on when these wear out, there just not wearing out. Right now they've been on almost a month and I normally change strings every two to three weeks.

Sounds like I made the right decision not to try a set of overpriced strings. the only expensive strings I've purchased that are worth their weight in gold is Cleartones for acoustics. Sound lively and stay that way for a long, long time. Otherwise, Ernie Ball's are top notch.

I have them and think they sound pretty good, but not enough to justify the price. And yes, I have noticed that they seem stiffer and will be moving back to regular ones next time. If they were the same price, or only a little more expensive I would probably stick with them.

They didn't work with me because the higher output gives it more gain and i prefer a clean tone.

I tried a set of Ernie Ball Cobalt 10s on my MIJ Strat with Seymour Duncan SSL-4s installed (quarter pounder pickups) and they do deliver a little more articulation, clarity, and output. In fact, I think the output is a little too strong for the A and low E strings. Not a bad sound, no difference to me in tension or overall playability. However I will probably go back to D'Addario 10s which is what I normally use, and are half the cost.
