The original Strat XII (22-fret neck) used the bridge assembly from Fender's 1960's-era Electric XII, which featured separate adjustable saddles for each string. The current Strat XII (21-fret neck) uses a Gotoh bridge that pairs the strings on only six adjustable saddles. Intonation thus becomes a compromise. My Strat XII (current issue) is set up so the fundamental strings are fully intonated, with the octave strings "floating" along for the ride. Since I'm not doing much above the 12th fret anyway, the guitar is perceived to be "in tune" to the human ear although a modern tuner might show the octave strings to be slightly otherwise.
