The American Special Strat HSS with its Texas Special/DH-1 configuration and cool CBS large headstock deserves an original Floyd Rose trem for serious dive bombing!

This guitar is actually available with a vintage-style 6-screw bridge.

I guess Fender will seriously consider the idea to offer a Floyded version of the instrument since they did the locking bridge mod with the Blacktop.

*Not to be confused with the Floyd Rose Classic.

Maybe Floyd Rose equipped Strats don't sell well enough for Fender to offer it as an option on American Strats. But I agree, though....it would be nice option to have. I guess if you really want one you'll just have to pony up the cash and have one installed...or buy a Charvel or Jackson (still part of the Fender family).

I've opted for the standard start with Floyd. It is a worthy guitar. However, I have been toying with the idea of a San Dimas or a Kramer Pacer. I don't like matte finishes that scream 'Doom Metal', I just want a rocker..

Otherwise I have been also considering upgrading the humbucker to a F spaced JB.

Chrome face I was momentarily excited when I read your post.. At last a MIA floyd Strat. Alas, I will continue to dream for the time being

Thanks for the compliments. I'm excited to see a welcomed return of the mini-Floyd bridge on the post-2010 American Deluxe HSS Strats with the blower switch.

There is a difference- a Charvel or Jackson is unaffordable when bought new. The USA line of Jacksons is extremely expensive, to the point of being prohibitive, while the new Pro series Jacksons are overpriced Indonesian/Mexican guitars. Fender, on the other hand, has a much lower entry level price for its American range, and they can have an American Special Strat with Floyd or an American Special Showmaster. There will be plenty who'll buy an American guitar with strong basic features, over an equally-priced Indonesian/Mexican guitars with all the bells and whistles.

I too was (and still am) looking for a Floyd Rose Strat or Showie made in the US in the used market, or at least a Blacktop with Floyd in the domestic market, but neither are available. Maybe a used Carvin it is for me.

Something I might add here. I have both wrote and called customer support about floyd rose and locking deluxe tremolos on strats. They instantly suggest I get a charvel or a jackson. Its because they bought both companies and they dont sell well anymore. So basically they stopped putting them on strats so we would buy the other brand if we want locking tremolo strats. A charvel or jackson is not a fender strat though. Only other option is custom shop so if you want an american strat with a floyd its 5 grand or do it yourself.

I agree with you. I am tired of hearing "buy a Charvel or Jackson" or "you can order customshop".. Although I do like the San Dimas range, it took me years to even say that I like them. I won't even look at a Jackson either. Nor would I go to the trouble of ordering a customshop guitar with the specs of a custom classic with a HSS configuration. Afterall, the moment you spec a Floyd Rose you immediately enter masterbuilt territory and its more hassle than what it is worth to wait for such a guitar with simple specs:

If I was going to buy either Jackson or Charvel, I would've already. I'm sure many others would have done the same. However, we are fender enthusiasts & purists. An American Standard HSS Floyd Rose wouldn't go astray- regardless of what people think, there is a market for one.

After all, if there are 65 variants of Stratocaster, I'm sure they can fit one more in..

Keep in mind, Fender owns Charvel, and many Charvel models have the look of strat, with the superstrat appointments...

Thats great for Charvel and Jackson players. Doesnt solve the problem for Fender Stratocaster players huh? I will just have to spend 400 bucks to get my real stratocaster fitted with locking tremolos.

Of course you could go with the Standard FR HSS and be done with it or modify a Blacktop FR to an HSS configuration which gets you an extra fret, but limited color options.

When I feel like goin south of the border I just hit Taco Bell and call it a day man. Mexican strats are great for kids and hobbyist but a semi pro or pro wont bother with them most of the time.
