Hi Blertles: I'd love to know where you found that pic? I see that you've put it on your Photobucket album, so obviously the link isn't taking me to the source.

It's interesting because opinion divides between those who complain that Fender always do the same-old same-old and wish they'd do something new - and those who run screaming to the hills whenever the company does anything that Leo didn't sanction.

So I'm wondering whether this is just the Custom Shop thinking outside the box for a bit of fun, or whether it's a serious piece of R&D and they are trying to develop a genuinely new model for the catalog? If this is indeed the CS "flying a kyte"... well, that body shape is going to get a strong reaction, that's for sure.

Thought provoking thread...

Cheers - C

It's so...parker-fly-ish, with a gaudy face treatment. But, it's got potential. The headstock needs some sculpting and should be angled and treeless w/ key-less robo-multi-tuning tuners, add 24 fret fretboard...wut else, ...oh, a multi-piece quarter-sawn maple and mahogany 5 piece multi-radius neck-thru w/ a mahogany top wing, an alder lower wing, maple cap, ebony 24.75" fingerboard, see thru flat oiled black, triple locking FR type bridge (locking nut, strings, and a rigid, sustainful fixed bridge position), black matte face plate, h/s/h tapped serialed and paralleled, blend pots, some sort of foofy pickup for acoustic and computerized stuff.

...the finishing touch; a carved flame treatment across the face, from the bottom of the bout up, flower of life coming out of the base of the flame center lower bout!

yeah, 'at 'll do it. 8)

I was googling 'Rare Fender Guitars' and I got this in my search results. As RB said I think this guitar has potential. It's not an ugly guitar, neither is it pretty. I think it lacks in the headstock design and the bridge looks like it should be of the locking kind.

I think it would be a disaster to say to the workers of the customshop to not venture out of the box.. In both configuration of current models and design of new ones. You never know what will happen. I personally think this number has a few things to be worked on this model.. However the overall shape is very doable.

But that's just my taste

I wonder if Mike Eldred knows about this model and what of its origins as it seems to be a legit customshop guitar if Ed Roman has verified that on his site..Now How can I get this thread transferred to his forum...
