Anyone else pi**ed?

I know they have been out for a while but i have a HSS Highway One and wanted to buy a SSS for my next guitar only to realise that they come in maple only? That is stupid.

Being a long time Fender user most of the amps i have owned have been Fender

I sent Fender an email today stating that i would not be purchasing an American Special because i need a SSS and the darn thing is only maple. I do hope they bring out a rosewood SSS as it it very hard to find second hand guitars where i live......

Just exchange the maple neck for a rosewood from an HSS or drop an SSS pickguard into an HSS body (since the USA Specials are routed for hum/single/hum).

American Specials are MIA as the prefix "American" suggests.

Yes you are right. It replaced the Highway 1 I believe. Still subpar compared to the original Roadhouse and "Hot rodded " series .

Yeah i think is sucks personally, the Highway One was maple/rosewood HSS and maple/rosewood SSS. I can only assume that Fender only uses maple on the American Special SSS because they save time and/or money somewhere along the production line.

Looking at the specs on the Fender website it looks like they took 1 step forward and 3 back. They added surf green ,but they went to satin finish instead of gloss. Oh well, at least now it has a vintage 6 point trem. :?

Both HWY1 and US Special HSS came only with a rosewood fretboard.
