Yes but it seems to balance well with the Alnico 3s that came stock in it.
The Blade Runner and graph tech give it great straty tone too.

The Evolution is also available as a single coil.

You can eventually make an HSH configuration with an Evolution single coil in the middle and add another Evolution humbucker in the neck. You'll get the same pickup configuration Steve Vai uses on his favorite white Ibanez JEM - though I'm not sure if you're a fan.

Texas Specials? Hot Noiseless? The USA Sambora Strats were fitted with these.

This is the Japanese black paisley strat with the two RS singles; it lacks off the active midboost whilst retaining the TBX tone control.

There were USA black paisleys sporting the same specs as the US Artist series (midboost, Texas Specials, bypass switch). These guitars were TK Masterbuilts made exclusively for Richie himself.

Just popped up again to share this pic I found of Richie holding my guitar ( its my guitar posted above ). You can tell its the same one, all the paisleys line up perfectly, and its the only one I have ever come across with the mid boost button. I wonder how many actual usa's were made, I note you say a few, I have only ever seen this one I own that came from Richie, and to be honest it matches up perfectly to all the pics ( something for the pain Video ) , Yokohoma Japan Live ..and various other pics I have seen, its always this one he has. I note that the paisley patterns can vary a little, particularly on the scratchplate. It seems that people want a lot of money now for an actual japanese paisley, wonder what value mine would be worth, not that I am selling it, but I am starting to think it really is a one off,as just havent seen another USA mid boost paisley anywhere ever
