Hello fender forum. I purchased my very first American Strat today at a local music store. It sounds fantastic. But when i got home i noticed something strange, there is no US before the serial number. Because of this I'm a little worried about whether or not I have the real deal. Hopefully some of you more experienced Fender guys could give me a little insight. I posted a picture of the Serial below. Thanks in advance.

Hi clay, and welcome to the forum.

Not all American made Strats have the "US" prefix on the serial number. If I'm not mistaken, the "US" prefix came into being in the latter part of 2010. I have a 2010 FSR American Standard with an 8-digit serial number starting with 10 but no "US" prefix.

If you send an e-mail with the serial number of your Strat to the good folks at Fender Consummer Relations, they will send you a spec sheet. The address is: consumerrelations@fender.com

HTH

Cheers!

You're welcome. :D

It may take a few days for Fender to get back to you but rest assured you will get a reply.

In the mean while please post of few more pictures of your Strat. I'm sure you will get feedback from our many resident experts. Also, we LOVE pictures here.

Cheers!

clay1334 - to add to Bluer Monkey's post those "10" prefix serial numbers weren't used for very long at all; only about 3 months or so at the start of 2010 before Fender moved on to the "US10" prefix circa April 2010.

No worries; those are legit serial numbers for American Standards, American Deluxes, American Specials, Highway 1s and any USA Artisti Series that used headstock decal serial numbers.

OK...Anybody else seeing a pattern here? A post from a new user questioning the validity of a SN#, then a link to a website by this guy: Obieone1
I've been poking around here for only 5 min. so far today, and have seen this link on a bunch of posts. Nice try

And...that is why there is that little button to report suspicious posts to the Moderators...they will take care of this soon enough...
