smoking frets,

No need to remove fretboard on a Fender neck to replace truss rod.

I don't why people on this forum don't go to see the pictures how to fit new truss rod I talk about .

You will see it is no so difficult.

Yes, I know, they also can be accessed by removing the skunk stripe, if there is one.
It was just an example.
It was not meant as an instruction.

Dunno. Maybe he needed the money?
Fact is, I payed 200 Euros and he did a great job. It was the cheapest offer out of 5 I got. Second cheapest one was 260 Euros.

High risk. Then the whole refinish job on the the back as it often has a maple stain on in the wood grain. One has to strip the finish all the way down to the stain, re-stain and refinish? Wow. I guess one has to be good at both woodworking and refinishing. And then talk of even then making a new fretboard?

That's exactly how it's done. While I was on work experience at school I worked with a luthier for 3 weeks and he did this job on an old 68 mustang that had more sentimental value to the owner, however the repair job was about 2 thirds the value of the guitar. The fingerboard was removed with a flat spatula and a heat gun- enough to heat the glue to soften slightly and a little struggle to remove the fingerboard, which was binned. Then the new truss rod was fabricated and the neck sanded (except the headstock face) new truss rod fitted, new fingerboard glued on, shaped and radiused and new frets & markers applied. Then the neck was sealed & stained to match the headstock face tint, then lacquer was applied and finished. Frets were levelled and dressed and guitar was re-assembled and truss rod adjusted. $500 later, job done.

Probably not the most economical way to do it, however it does take skill. Me, I for the most part (except for the sanding) watched. Never thought possible without removing the logo- but again, I would prefer to buy a new neck if it were a modern Strat..

Hey brother, you have a valuable guitar. Fix it if you want to. If you prefer, have someone fix it, if the repair can be had for a reasonable price. Plenty of YouTube videos if you prefer to try it yourself.
