I have this "closet classic" 2006 highway one
someone bought it and put it away, I picked it up on a trade.

I'm not crazy about three tone burst, first thought was to refin in surf green

I'm not crazy about the matted finish either, second thought just spray clear nitro

Any thoughts that pertain to HWY-1 finishes ????

Get an automotive buffing compound to shine up the surface. No refinish needed. Or trade for what you really want.

Totally agree with the posting about buffing out the paint. My black one looks great after I got some rubbing compound, a cotton t-shirt and elbow greese.

These bodies are great because they look and feel very old school, sound great and will wear just all those great sounding Strats of the past.

I would buff it out and see what you think. By the way I didn't even have to remove any parts.

spray over it and when it wears away you'll get that cool double finish worn through type thing going on. which i really like. i was recently looking in the custom shop part of the forum, and a guy has a couple of strats with a basecoat of pink paisley, a different colour sprayed over the top and then relic'd to revel the paisley underneath. looks mega.

My guess is I'll never get around to painting it so most likely I do the buffing thing, its what I did with the honey blonde 2002 HWY I had back in the day.

I thought about buying a painted body too, then half the fun of the HWY series is the necks and bodies they used.

Time for some elbow grease 8)

You might want to try using Virtuoso guitar cleaner and polish first. I used it on a satin finish Gibson LP Studio and it put a nice vintage looking gloss on it.

Funny you should ask as my brother in law just shot mine, it turned out beautiful! I have the tri burst just like yours it looks absolutly gorgeous man. He used nitro cellular clear gloss. It rubbed out easy. I didnt like the satin either.
