Should be alder; the only American Standards that are ash are the Sienna Sunburst ones.

Hi footyman and welcome to the forum.

+1, JohnC

I don't believe the type of wood is represented in the product number. From what I can tell the last pair of numbers represents the color, and the second to last pair the type of fingerboard.

    Fingerboard
    07 = Maple
    27 = Rosewood

    Colors
    3-Color Sunburst = 00
    Olympic White = 05
    Black = 06
    Candy Cola = 12
    Jade Pearl Metallic = 19
    Sienna Sunburst = 47
    Charcoal Frost Metallic = 69
    Mystic Red = 94
    Mystic Blue = 95

I'm guessing the first three numbers represent the country of origin - USA = 011, Mexico = 014 - and the next three the series: American Standard = 300, American Deluxe = 900.

A lot of guessing on my part and of course I stand to be corrected. Perhaps Rob from Fender will be kind enough to chime in and give us the official decoder ring. :wink:

HTH

Cheers!

Hi chromeface. Are you sure about the 700 product number for the American Deluxe? Perhaps the product numbers have or will change for 2013?

I was going with the part number of my 2012 American Deluxe 3-Color Sunburst with maple neck which is is 0119002700 and also what I saw in the 2012 Frontline catalogue for American Deluxe guitars.

    011900... for American Deluxe Stratocaster®
    011902... for American Deluxe Stratocaster® Left Handed
    011910... for American Deluxe Strat® HSS
    011920... for American Deluxe Strat® V Neck
    011930... for American Deluxe Strat® Ash

Currently on the Fender website we have the American Deluxe Stratocaster® listed as Model : 011900. http://www.fender.com/en-CA/guitars/stratocaster/american-deluxe-stratocaster/

Cheers!
