I like my strat to sound dirty, dirty, dirty.

I play through an MXR Classic Fuzz 108 pedal and a Blues Jr III with a Cannabis Rex Speaker.

9 out of 10, I use the passing lane button on my strat to use the Atomic Humbucker full blast. I barely utilize the S1 switch or the neck or middle noiseless pickups. They just sound dull and muddy to me.

I use a lot of pinch harmonics and the pentatonic blues scales. I am considering swapping the Atomic Humbucker for a Pearly Gates...but I don't know how that will sound in a Alder Body and Maple Neck/Fretboard.

I have also considered putting the single coil size, Telecaster Pearly gates in the neck or middle pickup position on my strat. Of course.... I could always pickup a cheap telecaster and put a pearly gates in it.

I really dig that Billy Gibbons sound - what is everyone's thoughts?

The noiseless N3 are cool and boy are the expensive - but I am starting to just feel meh with them. They sound great clean but with any overdrive or fuzz... I pretty much have to use the Atomic Humbucker in the bridge.

I've actually considered purchasing a Les Paul to put a Pearly Gates in.... but I really don't want to. I kind of despise Gibson and at the same time but prefer American made guitars so I don't really care for Epiphone, Agile or the number of Les Paul knock-offs.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I use Tonerider Rebel90s for that! They have a P90 kinda sound and are really dirty up to classic rock.
Nothing for high gain though!!

If you want real high gain sounds dirty as dirty can be nut still with defined sound without mudding the sound, I would suggest DiMarzio The Breed (Steve Vai used them).

Second choice would be DiMarzio Paf Pro. Great clean sound as well when splitted!

Alternative for the single coils: DiMarzio Evolution single coils. Strat sound with a little extra punch!

Since pickups are a matter of taste, you probably end up with many different suggestions and you'll be as smart as before (means: it rather confuses than it does help).

For those who are seeking for a LA type of sound I recommend boutique pickups from John Suhr, Dr. Allen, Bare Knuckle and James Tyler.

Tip: throw in a Supercharged Studebaker in the bridge, stick two Hot Lauras in the neck & middle to nail the slick rock tones of LA artists such as Dan Huff and Michael Landau!

I have recently put 2 different pickups in Strats and had awesome results a Dimarzio evolution and a Gibson 498t both would require an extra hole in pickguard as a fender humbucker has 2 heigth screws on low string side.

Seymour duncan trembucker models offer the perfect fit in your fender pickguard no extra 1/8" hole needed

CS Showmaster owners who also own a 2012 USA Standard HSS can replace the stock Diamondback with a Trembucker pickup to match the pickup configuration of their Showmasters- since the USA Standard has already the two CS Fat 50s singles factory installed.
