Hi there!
Any MIJ happy (or not?) users here?
Let's share some tricks, tips, ideas and so on...
I proudly own a 86 Contemporary Strat that really makes me very happy. Great sound, rosewood based, original piclups. But I don't know what kind of pickups are they? Any ideas?
Sorry, I can't find the attach button to show how it looks (white)...

In order for pictures to show in your posts, you have to link to pictures that are on a publicly accessible site such as PhotoBucket or similar site using the provided IMG code from that site.

What??? No way to add them from my computer? Or at least from Dropbox? So I have to make a special account on another site just to let me add some photos? Come on...

Anyway thanks for letting me know... (I still can't believe it.....????)

Aaaaw, come on!

First of all, there's already a MiM fan/owner thread existing. Please use the search function.

Second: in almost EVERY forum I know you have to link to pictures.
Usually only the smaller forums with few members use the foto-upload funktion in their forums.
I'm the admin of one.

I really like external picture hosts! Just uploading for ONE TIME, then simply using the link codes everywhere. Saves a lot of time!!
I use Photobucket and I used ImageShack before. I like Photobucket better.

There's no better way for sharing pics with online friends than using some external picture host! IMHO!

G'day, Mine is from 1988. In the MIJ timeline, it came after the Contemporary and before the HM. As it has no MIJ decal, it has taken some time to identify. It has 22 frets, Gotoh tuners and a Kahler Spyder trem. We have found many other examples on a dedicated thread, as well as general info on 80s MIJ guitars.

Starting a Photobucket account is no great hassle, give it a try.

Good Idea....Here is mine. It is an '87 and is a Domestic Only model. Enjoy the pics...crappy as they are. It's all original, has the staggered alnico pickups, and the full size steel block and it has that acoustic zing and a nice ring when plugged in.

I AGREE with your needs, not with your opinions. Telecaster forum does not have such a problem, by the way...

NEITHER DO I, really hate them... (guys with less good intentions might get ideeas from those...)

Anyway, yhanks for the answer...

Indeed in the link you mentioned, I found one very next to mine, the white one with yellow (aged) piclups and rosewood neck. Only the tremolo is different, mine is System I. Still can't upload pics...
Mine is an 86 model. Sounds impressive, with a full and rich sound. Someone erased the Made In Japan logo so it's a sort of scratch in place. Also, the neck is semi-scalloped, which I don't really appreciated, but I manage to play on.
I really wonder how to find out what kind of pickups are on the guitar, what were the originally? If anyone can help I will really appreciated.
Thank you!

Easy way to attach pics Mikey

Download this to your favourites/bookmarks
http://tinypic.com/

Start post here on Fender forum and when ready for pic, click fresh tab and go to tinypic
Click "upload" and upload pic then resize to "message board 640x480"

When pic uploaded, left click "img for forums and message board "
(it'll turn black) then right click, select "copy"
Come back on here and right click where you want pic going (on a fresh line) and select "paste"

Pic will only show up as a pic if you select preview or actually post it
like this, This is mine, MIJ 1995 '68 reissue

Right click on the file in your dropbox folder and go to the Dropbox sub menu. There are several different ways to get a link. 'share link' then click on 'get link'. You can post that in image tags.

Hello everyone. Sorry for the beginner question, but I'm new to Fender guitars. I’m hoping to get some advice on MIJ strat. It’s an E series contemporary HSS (black neck and headstock) and it appears to be made in 1987. It has the Kahler 2500 tremolo system. I bought the guitar online for $379, thinking I was getting a great deal on a vintage MIJ strat, but after doing some research I see that many claim the Kahler system isn’t very good and to stay away from them.

I would like a MIJ strat at some point, but it seems this one might be inferior to other models (at least from what I’ve read) I have yet to play it but will do so later this week. I do have the ability to return it. If it sounds really good, I’d probably keep it, but just trying to get some info on the model I purchased. I was really hoping for a sought after model that will increase in value that I could pass along to my son. Again, sorry for the beginner question, but I want to make sure I know what I'm getting. Thanks for any info!
