The guitar in question has an SSS setup; it was better known as the "USA Roadhouse Stratocaster" and later, "American Strat Texas Special".

Lonestar Strats (aka "American Fat Strat Texas Specials") featured a Duncan PG+ humbucker in the bridge.

The current MIM Deluxe Roadhouses and Lonestars are totally different cosmetic and feature-wise except for the pickups which are the same as their USA counterparts.

Yeah that was what I thought about when I read his post was the American Roadhouse.

The American Roadhouse and Lonestars were so cool why did they start making them in Mexico? I mean I realize Mexicans need something to do but thats Texas man.
Marketing. They discontinued the "Hotrodded " American series , so the only guitars being manufactured were artist series guitars. I am sure they realised they still sell a boat load of the Texas Special pickups, so why not introduce them into the MIM line and give it a shot on the arm .I think the MIM Roadhouse and Lonestars have sold ok , no?

The USA Lonestar featured a bathtub rout.

When Fender renamed this model as American Fat Strat Texas Specials in 2000 the bathtub cavity has been replaced by an HSH rout.

I know, we lose something on either version. The american made one lost body density while the mexican made one loses a fret. I like 6 screws because I can install blade runners. It would be better on a mexican one to just buy the body and pickgaurd and grab a blacktop neck with 22 frets. I like mexican stuff I had a blacktop a while but didnt like the body because of the universal route. I grabbed a mexican standard body off ebay and wow! it was a great guitar almost as good as an american. Sold it to a friend and he wont sell it back lol.

I like the 6 point as well. The 2 things the MIM ones have against it IMO is lack of color options and i felt the MIA neck was better. it for sure had better fret work. Never had any use for that 22nd fret though. I would buy a loaded body and put a neck on it of your choice, problem solved. I also like wiring the tone control on the bridge and leave the middle wide open. To my ears it got maximum quack that way.

I own one of those American Hot Rodded Texas Special strats in custom color surf pearl.

They were quickly discontinued. I guess they were available from 2000 to 2002. I bought mine in 2002 and it was a reduced sale off because the series was running out.

I have the S/S/S config but there were H/S/S strats as well.
Don't remember what humbucker was mounted in those but I guess they were Pearly Gates!?

The single coils were all Texas Specials.

Nice guitars!!

The HSS models used a Pearly Gates Plus humbucker in the bridge.
