Strat pluses are really great guitars. You have made a very wise purchase. I was just playing my EC Strat w/ Lace Sensors and thinking what great pickups.

I like the way that burst was executed. Very soft blending like water colors. The guitar also appears to have been well cared for these past 17 years. As with Paris, I've a preference for the LS's. Have them in our Clapton's, of course. Well done.

Question: Is the body a solid alder or ash body or a veneer top? The reason I ask is that many of the early US Strats (and pluses) had veneer top. Fender was having wood trouble and had to use veneer tops. You can tell by the way the sunburst is on the back.

+1

It is also refreshing to see the burst extending to into the horn. Looks nice, don't it?

There are so many variations of the SB3. It makes me wonder what the criteria are, or whether it is left to the hands of the production line. As I said before, this look is my preference, but I had no luck trying to get that on the last guitar they did for me.

paris, not sure so I took a picture of the back

I know the trem plate is on upside down, a previous owner installed a hipshot but didn't offset so the tem plate won't sit flat, luckily I guess, the string slot fits over the hitshot adjustment "nut"

Not are why my pics are showing up upside down? I'm using photobucket and when I preview before posting they are right side up? Anyone else having this issue?

Well, the back is equally stunning, and I'm totally impressed with that deep offset ['57 style] waist relief. I wish they had done the early Clapton's [from '88>] like that, with soft body contours as well. I'm sure you can have the Tremsetter reinstalled to specs and reverse the cover plate.

From the look of the burst I would say that the top and back are veneers. This was quite common in the '90s. You can tell by the way the burst edge follows the cut away. As to the back plate, yes it's on backwards.

There was so much variation in the 90's!

My Plus is a '92 two piece body with no veneer (the burst on mine looks nowhere near as light in the real world - the flash was required!), just so you can see the difference in the belly contour -

My sense is that, absent the washout, the lower border of the belly cut on both guitars is the same. Don't let your eye be fooled by the dark border of the burst in that location.

I was more illustrating the difference in veneer/non veneer finish in the belly cut - all black for veneer, just black around the edge for no veneer. :D
