I have a question about the stratocaster Sienna Sunburst;
Are the bodies made of ash or alder?

Thanks
Marcelo

Hi Marcelo and welcome to the forum.

If you check out the Products section of the Fender website you can get specs for models in production.

I stand to be corrected, but I believe that Sienna Sunburst is currently available only for the American Standard which has an alder body. http://www.fender.com/en-CA/products/am ... ratocaster

HTH

Cheers!

@Bluer Monkey

The Siennaburst USA Standards are made up from ash.

Much expensive because of special wood requirements.

That is the question!
In the Product Session they say ALDER body.
But, it's looks like ASH..not ALDER.
Ok, I suppose this is a special kind of "figured" ALDER...maybe.
thanks everybody.

Ah, ... I hadn't noticed the price difference. Thanks for pointing it out, chromeface.

Cheers!

It's ASH, you fool... :twisted: Look closer at the picture!

The woodgrain pattern clearly denotes an ash body.

There's a misinformation in the specs list as ash is not mentioned for colour code 747.

Normally the specsheet should display this info:

Quote:
BODY: Alder (Ash on 747**)

Fender always used ash bodies for their sienna sunburst-finished guitars and basses.

The two asterisks indicate the special wood requirements which significantly increase the costs.

Quote:
(747)** Sienna Sunburst, (Ash Body),**add $100.00 for Special Wood Requirements

I have an 06 HSS in sienna sunburst and thought it was alder. Now this has me wondering, I thought it was the deluxe that was ash, and the standard was alder. I would certainly be happy with an ash body'=)

Sienna Bursts always came with an ash body.

Some info in the specsheet is missing.
